Tres Reyes Snack - Nuevo Progreso

This is a relatively new taco stand. They just started up in October (2019). I say "taco stand" but their specialty is gorditas. And what gorditas! Lightly fried to a gentle crisp. Melt-in-your-mouth delicious. At the moment (23-November-2019) Sonora street is being repaired so Tres Reyes has temporarily moved across Reynosa street to the opposite corner. Once they get back in their permanent location, they have plans to expand seating and even branch out into other offerings (nachos, chili fries,...). Right now their business is mostly (I'd say entirely except for me) take away and delivery. And they do a brisk business, too. All (well, a lot of) the local retail people get their almuerzo from Tres Reyes, so you'd best come around early if you want the full selection of gorditas: Eggs and Chiles Nopalitos Beans Picadillo (ground beef) Bistek (chopped steak) Asado (seasoned roast beef) --all with or without cheese (I recommend with!) Update: now that the weather is getting warmer, one of the best things to do in Nuevo Progreso is get some gorditas (get there early so you have more choices) and walk a couple of blocks to the park and have a little picnic.
