★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Muy mal, el sitio lleva cerrado desde hace 2 años, sin fecha de apertura y sin una indicación que alertara al visitante sobre el hecho de que esté cerrado. Lástima por el gran acervo arqueológico que resguarda.
Too bad, the site has been closed for 2 years, with no opening date and without an indication to alert the visitor to the fact that it is closed. Pity for the great archaeological heritage that it protects.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Already 1,5 years closed, olthough google says it's open. We got an impression about the landscapes thrue the sugarcanefields, where the Olmecs have lived. On to the next stop!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome museum. Way off the beaten path and you might be the only one there. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time getting up close with the artifacts. It felt like a place out of time

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When we arrived we were a little concerned that it was closed. Upon speaking to the watchman there we discovered that the curator had run to Santiago for an emergency. Luckily waited around (about 30 min) and the curator returned.
Incredibly happy we waited. The curator was patient, kind, and extremely knowledgeable of every piece there. He explained and pointed out every detail on the pieces within his museum. He also indicated where secondary or "other halves" of broken artifacts could be found (Mexico City & Santiago).
The roads were tough, it is off the beaten path, but for us, it was well worth it!
