Just went in May 2018 & I highly recommend this as an alternative to what the cruise line provides. Instead of being bunched up in a bus as the cruise line does, with Tucan, you get an unforgettable personable experience. My driver was a great guy named Antonio who took me through the Mayan ruins explaining history along with legend and folklore. After that we went to the lagoon of seven colors which was amazing. Also, don't forget to try the local "honey pineapples" for the sweetest tasting pineapple ever!!! & the best part is your helping the economy of the locals by choosing tucan tours...you'd be a fool to chose what the cruise offers...GO WITH TUCAN TOURS!! & you can thank me later!!!

Michael, the manager, from Toucan Tours sold us wristbands for Kimbara Beach Club. He described it as a beautiful private beach with lounge chairs, bathroom, showers, kayaking, and snorkelling. He charged $15 each for access and then got a taxi driver to bring us there which would be another $8 total. The taxi driver brought us 4 blocks away from the beach club and said he had no idea where it was! We had to walk and ask people where to go.. Finally make it there and it’s a tiny spot with old beach chairs and all rocks before entering the water! They do have a couple of kayaks that people were always using and NO snorkelling equipment! Plus they said they only charge $10 per person and were shocked that someone sold us access for more than that. What a scam!!!!

Awesome tour. So reasonable. We got off the ship and found them outside . Took us to the ruins in a small, nice A/C van with ice waters. Carlos was amazing!! He knows everything about the history, we saw wild monkeys and stopped off for authentic street food.
