Crossing here was a pretty sad experience. There is a tent city on the Mexico side and there are many women and children who look like they have been there a long time. I'm not going to go on a political rant here other than to say there has to be a better way to handle this. I posted a short video of the Mexico side as I was heading back to the US. If you're only going into the border town it's probably easiest to park on the US side and just walk across (you'll skip a LOT of traffic). I literally had time to cross and come back all before the 1 hour was up on the meter where I parked my car. On the way back into the US you'll see a long line of people to your right (I believe asylum seekers). You can skip that if you have a US passport. Some unpleasant border guard will likely just wave you through. On the Mexico side it does "feel" a bit on the rough side. I don't think I'd want to be there at night. There are at least 5 pharmacies as soon as you cross which seemed odd to me. The one I went into was empty. I had an interesting conversation with the "pharmacist".

I can't stand the city of Brownsville and US border customs they have offer nothing but bad feelings and disrespect my whole life, they show nothing but superiority and inhumane attitude were there is just nothing special from this individuals and federal agency who do more harm to innocent hard working people than those actual smugglers and illegal activities. I can't stand how ungrateful this country can be.

I am ashamed to see such shoddy customer service, making people wait forever in lines just to cross on foot. It takes zero time to enter Mexico and hours to re enter my own country. The line moves so slowly. We can and must do better. And no sunshades while standing in line, too. I’m regretting wearing shorts and sandals under brutal sun.
