Ultramar - 77710 Playa del Carmen

Ferry was fine but they suggest using their car rental service on Cozumel, do NOT use the car rental. Absolute fly by night, BS organization. Walk or rent a car from Hertz, Avis or any real car rental place. You may have to reserve these the day before but to not use the car rental suggested by Ultramar. You are welcome in advance.

Can't fault Ultramar. Took a trip over to Cozumel from Plays Del Carmen yestersay, bought tickets at the pier and paid 400 peso each return. Boarding and security was fast and painless. The ferry was clean, well air conditioned and very comfortable, there were charging points provided at the tables seats and a bar serving drinks and Starbucks coffee aswell as snacks. Upstairs and on the front there are outside seating, with a live band playing on top, they were very good and helped to pass the time. When we arrived the disembarkation was very quick and without issue. I would recommend using them for your trip to Cozumel or Playa Del Carmen. Thanks :)

bad service and lousy organization, winjet is better

The trip to and back from Playa del Carmen was fine. Upon landing in Cozumel I asked a dock crew worker to assist me getting a bicycle ride or something because I had a painful knee. He said I would have to call someone. Basically he didn't give a s*** as long as everyone was on the other side of a line on the deck.

The ferry was fine, my issue is with the ticket vendor. We went to where I had found good reviews, purchased ferry tickets and purchased scooter rentals for Cozumel. I thought we were buying from a reputable place, but the scooter rental was a bait and switch nightmare! Not cool!

Couzmal. Don't waste your time!

Very nice ferries - with air conditioning. They sell beer, cocktails, soft drinks and snacks etc. A first class option available for just 30 pesos extra R.T. btwn Playa del Carmen and Isla Cozumel (420 pesos vs 390 pesos round trip Dec 2018). Bathrooms are clean and fully equipped. Security screening w metal detectors.

We purchase a round trip from Playa Del Carmen to Cozumel and back. Ticket purchase and both boarding services went just fine. You do feel the ocean motion fair bit so if you you sea or motion sick easily I’d strongly recommend taking something like ginger root before using the service. We did not experience anyone getting sick through I’ve heard stories of some bad experiences on windy days (our trips were not very windy). The indoor seating is very spacious and comfortable. First class in my opinion is not necessary at all for the 35ish minute ride. The upper lever is nice in the afternoon/evening but can feel a bit cool so bringing a sweater is not a bad idea. The seats are much less comfortable outside since they are metal however for being outdoor sets they were fine. We observed the winjet service. It’s a budget version to save a few bucks but is much busier and looks a lot less comfortable. I’d recommend buying tickets earlier (day before if your in the area) as it get very busy during peak hours. You save a few bucks but getting a round trip - just remember to hold on to your ticket as it’s used for both trips.
