About Vallarta Food Bank
About Us
Our beloved Vallarta is facing a crisis with many people out of work due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To help our community, we have set up a food bank for the families in Puerto Vallarta and its surrounding areas. Without your support, feeding those in need becomes an even more challenging task. You are crucial to Vallarta Food Bank’s mission: no one goes hungry.
Our board of directors include Francie, Francie Victoria and Jimmy. We’re small business owners and residents in Puerto Vallarta who want to give a helping hand to our community. Each of us has experience with volunteer efforts: from delivering food and supplies after hurricanes, searching for missing children, working in soup kitchens, to building schools in small villages in Vietnam.
Currently, our organization serves hot meals 5 days a week from our soup kitchen while continuing to provide despensas (food bags) to the families in need. In addition, we support the families from Pasitos de Luz, Foundation Down A.C., and Red de Asociaciones Altruistas. We also make bi-weekly deliveries to more than 30 families who are physically unable to leave their homes.
Besides serving food, we provided emergency disaster relief to families and small businesses in Vallarta and the surrounding towns that were devastated by the hurricane and flooding. This year, we bought and donated mattresses, stove tops, refrigerators, cleaning supplies for many families. We also started an emergency cleaning crew to clear the mud and debris for small businesses, the Cultural Center, and the Rio Cuale Park.
Another project we started this year is to provide free, clean drinking water. So far we installed four filtered water taps throughout the city, with one right outside our building for everyone who needs clean drinking water.
At our food bank, everyone has access to free English classes, job training programs, and medical assistance.
Our displaced families also have access to free shower and laundry facilities. The weekly bazaar is a great way for everyone to receive free clothing, shoes, and household items.
Our mission has been able to grow and evolve thanks to the support of our incredible volunteers and donors. We truly could not do it without both. Yet as we enter our third year as a non-profit organization, the need for support continues to grow.
Now more than ever, consistent monthly donations are what allow us to keep the soup kitchen and despensas programs going. Please consider becoming a monthly donor to help achieve our mission.
Thank you for your help.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Look, this is the real deal BBQ. The food is fantastic and Jim, Frankie, mom and sis are awesome people. Get off the bus and walk 2 blocks east. It is a safe neighborhood, the classic rock is an added touch as well. Bring a beer from around the corner and enjoy the scrumptious food. Jim and Frankie helped out the effected communities tremendously in the aftermath of the tropical storms this past autumn, so they are really part of the community too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such good ribs. Owned by a local family. This restaurant has the best home made BBQ sauce I've ever had. Came here from Florida I felt like Anthony Bourdain finding this gem on my journey. Thanks Jimmy & Frankie. We'll be back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a truely wonderful family. The food was delicious. I sent a message ahead of my visit and ask some questions and received a prompt response. I got there within a couple of hours of opening for the day and I got the next to the last slice of prime rib. My lucky day. I had to try the 5 star Mac and. Cheese and the pulled pork. It was a fabulous meal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Friday night prime rib was excellent!
Smokey and tender cut of meat.
Although it's served with gravy on top, which it really didnt need, the meat was wonderful by itself.
The side portions are plentiful and the beans for great reviews at our table!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great food! Good prices. Awesome little hole in the wall, definitely worth going to for some good bbq. Bring your own beer! The owners were great, and gave us lots of tips and good conversation. Have gone back twice in 3 days. They hold Friday specials like prime rib and brisket. And the Mac and cheese side is to die for

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've been there 3 times in the last two weeks since my first visit, twice for the Friday smoked prime rib. It is a family-owned business, and the master smoker Jim and wife Frankie, with their family made it feel like I was eating with my family. I ordered the smoked baby back ribs on the first visit with two sides included of my selected mac and cheese and beans. Was excellent with their own dry rub and smoked, with sauce to add yourself. The following Friday I return for the first time for their smoked prime rib. Was everything I expected and more, as it was excellent. I sat there and savored every bite. On my third visit, I took a friend with me and she got the trabajabor, and myself, the smoked prime rib again, and sides of mashed potatoes with gravy and coleslaw. Mashed potatoes and gravy were good and the coleslaw was also, even though I like my coleslaw more saucy and this was more of a dry version. I seldom give five stars but this restaurant earned every one from the food, the friendliness, and the service. They offer carryout also and delivery is available anywhere in the PV area and beyond which I going to use when I'm not in that area to visit in person.
Update: returned for another meal of baby back ribs and tried the smoked jalapenos with pulled pork with queso and wrapped in bacon. Very good. Their new dining room is now open and very nice. The whiskey hamburgers with stuffed portobello are now on the menu everyday instead of just Saturday
