About Vecchio Forno

NUESTRA HISTORIA

Our experience with this restaurant started badly and got worse. As soon as we were seated, just inside the restaurant with open air to the outdoor tables, the waiter pulled two heavy glass doors shut, sealing us inside. We had not asked for this, and perhaps he was preparing for a cool night, but the effects of his efforts were to unseat us, ask our help in rotating the square table he'd just given us, and then press us up against glass. Staff moved tables and chairs around inside and out, mostly chaotically, for most of our meal, and not because diners were arriving. The house red wine seemed watered down. The Montepulciano by the glass was marginally better. Our sides of asparagus and spinach with white beans came on tiny plates, hardly enough for one person to feel they had eaten anything. My husband's cheese ravioli in pink sauce came with white sauce instead and my "handmade papardelle" seemed to have been swirled in sauce straight from a box without being cooked. I asked for it to be remade. Judging by the extremely hot plate that came back, they "remade" the dish by sticking it in a microwave or oven on high. There must be better Italian style restaurants in CDMX. Choose the next one in your search.

We went on a weekday, got seated on the patio. Ordered melanzane alla parmigiana, burrata, gnocchio sorrentino, and pappardelle pesto. The eggplants were thinly sliced, I’ve always had them on the chunkier side. It tasted decent but the texture was off. The burrata I’d say was not fresh, it was very disappointing. Gnocchi was good but nothing special, whereas the pesto tasted all kinds of off. Cool place for a quick aperol spritz though.

I’m editing my previous review. ordered via Uber and it took them over 90 minutes only to prepare my order. Almost 2 hours in and I still haven’t received my order. From other reviews you will see they don’t care about Uber orders, they prioritize dine in. Why don’t you just quit Uber? At least that would be fair with the customers.

The lasagna della nonna and gelatos are consistently delicious! I especially recommend the helado de avellana con chocolate. The pizza can be a bit doughy and they sent the wrong item on my last delivery order.

Amazing service, very delicious food, great wine selection from Italy and Mexican vineyards. They make their pasta fresh everyday. Reservations are highly recommended. A place with very high cleaning standards. 5 stars all the way.

Great service. We order something that wasn’t on the menu and they did it perfectly. Tasty food, good wine selection, classic decoration, quiet atmosphere. Perfect for a dinner in couple!
