Viento Sur - 97000 Mérida

Awesome food. Not just the steaks but all of it. Server did a great job and spoke excellent English. Save room for desert as the creme brulee alone is worth the trip.

We went for steaks. The server was nice but inexperienced. We ordered two steaks; a New York and Porter house, vastly different in size. We wanted both medium rare. They must have put them on the grill at the same time because, the smaller steak was well done. When we pointed that out, the server appeared uncomfortable and didn't come over anymore until we were done. I also thought it was expensive for the meal and the service we received.

The best food in Merida!!! My husband and I were out walking last night, when we rounded a corner and found this gem! We were welcomed inside Viento Sur by the polite staff who promptly showed us to our table in a bright, clean dining area. When they brought our drinks, we were also served the most tasty bread piled high on a plate that included 3 different types of dipping sauces. It was hard to decide what to order as there are so many great food choices! We ultimately chose the ravioli with alfredo and mushroom sauce, the mushroom lasgna, and the beef empandas. The food did not disappoint! The sauces, the seasonings, the flavor of it all was such a treat and the portions were so large that we had to take some home with us! We have visited many restaurants in Merida but this restaurant is one we will return to again and again! We also tried one of the many meats available that are cooked on a woodfire grill. We loved the tenderness and the taste of the meat, full of smoky flavor. The owner is a kind and friendly man, who clearly shows the customer the best possible service, as does the attentive staff. We are very happy to have found the Viento Sur restaurant, and would highly recommend it to anyone searching for the best dinner option in Merida!

Fantastic food and really friendly attentive service. We tried the tira de asado, which they roast on the wood fired grill for 8 hours, giving it a really nice smokey flavor and picaña, which was really delicious — rich and flavor and perfectly cooked. Top it off with the best creme brûlée I’ve ever tasted and great wine for a fantastic meal! Can’t recommend this place enough when you’re in Merida!

The bread and salsas were delicious. Absolutely delicious. We ordered all the empanadas to sample and they were awesome, especially the spinach. Will Absolutely return to have steak.

When we arrived it was a ling wait for drinks. Also a long wait for appetizers - empanadas. The main course took even longer. They were short-staffed and working their tails off! Ultimately, the food was amazing and woth the wait. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the cuts of meat were top notch - zero fat. The burger was HUGE and fresh. If you're in a hurry, this may not be for you, but if you enjoy quality food, it's a must.

I decided to check out this spot during my walk today and I'm so glad I stopped. The staff are so sweet and helpful. The food was amazing! The bread and salsa appetizer was good. The guac was banging and the chicken salad was off the chain. I loved eating while listening to 80s rock.
