Really cozy! Quite cheap but worth each penny. The staff attention is great, the food is really good and really cheap. The swimming pool is nice. The view from the lower rooms is amazing at down. I loved this place and i'll be back soon.

It has been some time since I stayed here but I believe this is still well deserved. The staff were amazing, friendly and very hospitable. I had been traveling alone, however, I had my amigos ;) I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Oaxaca.

fantastic experience. Get to know the actual culture and how things are in Mexico. The food, the culture, their whole way of life. Family run and friendly. on sight food prep traditional dishes of Mexico. City center easy access by taxi.. things to see and do within walking distance. I felt completely safe in everything I did. The local people were friendly and helpful. In a hostel setting, you meet many young travelers from Europe, Australia, and the US. very friendly and like to talk. All costs are very reasonable and affordable.

The best hostal in Oaxaca, and one of the best hostels I ever been before. The host (I forgot her name because it was few years ago...) it is a very polite lady, that makes everything for you feel yourself confortable like at your own home. They have a amazing breakfast, totally mexican style, and a nice swimming pool. It is located on the mountain, a little bit further from downtown, however it is totally worth it because this guarantee to you a wonderful view from the city of Oaxaca. I was so lucky because I didn't knew, but when I arrived the city was having La Guelaguetza. An annual indigenous cultural event in Mexico that takes place in the city of Oaxaca, capital of the state of Oaxaca, and nearby villages. The celebration features traditional costumed dancing by gender-separated groups. It includes parades of indigenous walking bands, native food, and statewide artisanal crafts, such as Pre-Hispanic-style textiles. Each costume, or traje, and dance usually has a local indigenous historical and cultural meaning. When I come back to Mexico, and for sure I will, that's going to be my first stop.

We had a fantastic stay for 8 nights, We slept better here than anywhere else that we have traveled in the last 3 weeks. The room we had was spacious, clean and comfortable, with a hammock, & beautiful garden. But the best thing about Villada were the people, we were greeted with such sincerity and warmth. The view from the dining room is of majestic mountains,& coffee always served with a smile. I totally recommend the Mexican breakfast omelette truly delicious. Juliette went out of her way to help us when my son was sick, she bought the doctor to our room, acted as an interpreter, an is very genuinely kind. I’m hoping we get to return on day. Would definitely recommend.

Sometimes a place has better pictures than it actually ends up being. This is the opposite- better than expected, and it already looked great. It is "simple", but a very relaxing and unique experience that really worked for us to relax and unwind. Sitting in the hammock, looking at the mountains over Oaxaca, feeling the pleasant breeze blow, really helped me recharge and center myself after a long week on the road. Chatting with the hosts was very kind and pleasant. They are helpful without being intrusive. Julietta speaks perfect English, and YaYa is a wonderful and kind older lady with dignity and a beautiful smile. This is a great place. Be warned- the drive up is a challenge. If you have a lowered sports car, you might hate trying to get here. We liked it so much we changed our plans and stayed another day.

AMAZING! I have been travelling for more than 10 years and it's the first time I feel like this in a hostel. In fact, this is the first time I put a review, but wanted to give back on all the love I received here. First, the place is really beautiful. It is on top of a hill in Oaxaca, so you will be able to have great views from the city. Which will allow you to see great sunrises, sunsets and the sky with a bunch of stars during the night. Second, the vibe of the hostel is lovely. The kind of people that go there are calmed, connected to nature... so if you feel you are like this, this is your place. And last but not least, the family. While in other hostels you can feel you are just a number and everything is about the business. They will explain you lots of things about the life in Oaxaca and treat you as another person within the family. ?? Recommendations on what to do: - Pan'am cafe - Mixtú for breakfast or coffee. Supernice restaurant. - The tour to Mitla and Hierve el agua. - In case you would like to go to Monte Albán I think its better to do it without the tour, as the explanations take too long with the tour. Overall 4 days is enough, but I ended up extending and staying 6 days. Muchas gracias and see you soon! ?
