Vivo Resorts - 71996 Bajos de Chila

We spent a week at the resort and had a tremendous time. The staff was excellent, the facilities in great shape (except for the road driving in) and the room was perfect for our needs. It took 2 plane connections to get here but was definitely worth it. We will be back.

The food was terrible, not one real mexican option (they advertise a real mexican culinary experience). Mostly burgers and pasta, average taste and presentation, high price, definitely not what we were expecting on a Mexican vacation. They have a mini supermarket with limited options. The room we booked was nice, had a pretty view. Nonetheless we decided to move to another hotel after one night of staying here due to slow service and terrible restaurant choice. It also advertised $5 rides to the city, but it really cost about $20 one way, since its so far away from the city. As others stated, the internet was really slow.

We stayed in this hotel for 9 nights, it was perfect. We had two rooms, one for two people view mountain and one beach front appartment with 3 rooms. All was clean, looked like new. The beach front room was beautiful. The location is ideal for a relaxing stay, there is no noise, no other hotels nearby, the beach is long, safe and beautiful. The staff was always helpful, we used internet for a couple of business calls, internet worked well. Foor was very good, only three menus (breakfast, Lunch and DInner). With great selection, everything we ate was good. We scheduled a trip with their tour services, private boat for 7 people. It was perfectly organized. Overall great experience.

The resort should inform you that certain facilities are not available beforehand. I rented the penthouse specifically for the jacuzzi and was never informed it was out of service. The room was missing an AC remote, bulbs for the dining room light, and missing the TV in the master suite. Disappointed!

If you're an owner here, I would seriously suggest you check on your investment. Every owner I talked to in the 3 days we stayed here was upset about the management staff or lack thereof. We booked a 3 bedroom penthouse and paid mote than $400 per night. When we arrived on Sat night they had 1 person working the front desk that spoke limited English. They put us in a different room (4 bedroom condo) and said that the 3 bedroom penthouse we booked was not available because of a "broken stairway". We later found out this was a blatant lie, it was overbooked because of a wedding party. Over the next 2 days there were many other lies and avoidance altogether. Avoid this property if at all possible, the management is horrible, the service is nonexistent, the food is sub par for a purported 4-5 star property, and they have zero hospitality training. If you do stay here prepare for major disappointment! Also, hope you don't need to use wi-fi, because it's slower than dial up. Cell service is also spotty because you're 5-6 miles down a dirt road from Puerto Escondido. You've been warned! Read the other reviews. The good ones are all from owners trying to keep their rental values up. I feel sorry for them.

WARNING: DO NOT STAY HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! Worst customer experience service I've ever experienced/fraud. Booked a room that was advertised as "1,787 Square Feet." I thought that seemed fairly large, but after looking at other suites and condos at this resort, I figured it was accurate as there were some even larger... Upon arrival and checking into the room, it turns out it wasn't even 20% of what they advertised - 250-300 square feet tops with a tiny bathroom. I immediately notified the front desk and calmly asked for a room upgrade. They let me know that everything was full (which was a lie) and that I'd have to pay more if I wanted to upgrade. Eventually after explaining to them again the false advertising and showing them a screenshot of the incorrect size, the manager Joshua (one of only friendly people at this sham of a resort) took a look at the room and agreed that they made a mistake. He told me to contact the 3rd party booking provider - did so with no luck. Finally after an hour or so, they offered a larger room but STILL TOLD ME I'D HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS UPGRADE. They offered a slight discount on the upgrade, didn't want to ruin my vacation complaining on the phone (after all, I'm not Shane from The White Lotus) so I accepted. Anyway, can't dispute with Amex until the transaction is posted. After a few days of them overcharging for cabs to get to the town of Puerto Escondido, mixed drinks served in coffee cups instead of normal cups, bars closing early, and an overall quite rude vibe from the staff, it was time to leave. After looking at incidentals, I found 3 different times they overcharged me for meals (which weren't that great anyway) that were advertised as included. Tried to explain this to them (although I knew they'd play dumb once again) to no avail. Even without the false advertising and scamming, I'd still urge people to stay away from this place. The whole point of going to Puerto Escondido is for the chill beach town vibes, and this place is a hassle to get to, has horrible staff, and basically just feels like a Scottsdale resort for retirees that was somehow airdropped into Oaxaca. That's a no for me...

Treated like royalty. Excellent. Super clean resort. Perfect place to enjoy your vacation time. Food is very good. Love this resort. Definitely recommend
