Voltacafé Santa Lucía - 97000 Mérida

Don't get the good reviews. While the boutiques are nice, the cafe is not up to standards. Poorly staffed and service could be drastically improved. The coffee we ordered was sub-par and waited endlessly for service, followed by them bringing us the wrong bill and we waited...again. This place looks good, but cannot say I would return based upon my experience here. They could and should be doing much better than this.

Food was very flavorful and we'll presented. Service was good. Atmosphere was casual and relaxing. Tables were safely spaced. Sadly, some of the plates and flatware that were set had food particles and other evidence of improper cleaning.

Voltacafe is a gem! We really enjoy coming here and sitting in the open air courtyard for breakfast. I've been here several times and have always impressed with the food, service, and ambiance. Prices are also very reasonable for the quality of food - breakfasts for two with coffee drinks and tip are less than $400 pesos.

The texture and taste of the hot chocolate is next level... Not too sweet, comes with a marshmellow... Heaven. My partner had the egg white omelette and WOW the flavors were very technical and delicious. High end ingredients. Love this place.

Amazing breakfast joint in the periphery of Parque de Santa Lucia. High quality food combined with friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere make Voltacafé a perfect place to start your day in Merida. As for my order: the breakfast burrito - accompanied by homemade salsas and a small salad with near perfect dressing - was delicious. I enjoyed everything about it, from its thin skin to its well seasoned egg and chorizo filling. Paired it with a fresh grapefruit juice and a Japanese siphon coffee, that were equally enjoyable. Although I didn’t get to try it, the pastry selection looked great and I also liked the fact that this place makes its own kefir and kombucha.

What an amazing place to get breakfast! We were waited by the utmost charming Fernando. What a guy! I had a cold Matcha (which was served with sweetened milk and ice) and a cappuccino with cajeta. Both were lovely (though the matcha can be much stronger in my view, I haven't found a place in Mérida that sells high quality matcha.. so I guess it is very hard to come by). For food I had the spicy pita, which was surprisingly 'not spicy' in the sense that I didn't find any chilies or peppers in it. So rest assured my English friends, this dish is for you as well. The dish was lovely, accompanied by some nice salad with a strong vinaigrette. Enjoyed everything: nice flavour, fresh ingredients, well-sized portions, extremely good-natured service ?. Voltacafé has a little garden, which is just very charming - look if you can be seated there. Make sure you also do a quick round to the bar: they have their sweets stalled and I saw Kefir as well as Kombucha on the bar (which might not be on the menu)... will probably come back to try those!

Lovely courtyard in this restaurant. We had a pleasant.... but extremely silent waiter! The crema and chocolate croissant was rich but extremely spectacular in its taste. The tarte de limon amarilla was delicious and we both had iced chai tea lattes which were also very good. Everything was reasonably priced and we'll be back one day for sure.
