★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was going to go to Escutia, the restaurant / bar next door, but the super friendly hostess Andrea made me want sushi instead so I decided to go into Wasoku Izakaya. I got 3 salmon nigiri. The salmon was so fresh. No idea where they catch their salmon, but for it to be that fresh. I’m curious. I also got a California roll. Maybe the best California roll I’ve had. Very good. Prices are very affordable. Highly recommend. Will 100% be back for more.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ WHO RUNS OUT OF WASBI... We dined here and David was incredible-the manager and chef stayed away-as we asked why or how they could run out of wasbi when you are sushi restaurant. Had to send back half of what we ordered-poor planning-poor management

Giving it 2 starts because my friend enjoyed his Yakimeshi.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I visited Wasoku on a quiet weekday night. I had lived in Asia for many years before my time in GDL and figured I would give this place a try. The decor is exciting, and it looks like they’ve made an effort to provide an enjoyable dining experience. I cannot say the same for the odd music they play in the restaurant. I honestly put my headphones in to escape the questionable choices made during my visit. I ordered multiple rolls, both uncooked and cooked, to try a bit of everything. The flashy and exciting interior design, unfortunately, does not make up for the not-so-fresh quality of food at this otherwise fun dinner choice. I certainly am not the only person who must have this opinion, as I was one of the only two groups eating there. I would stick to cooked rolls as they were slightly better- and I left more than half of my cold rolls because I just couldn’t finish.
