★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a great tour guide with great knowledge of the history of this place. Great view from the top of the main ruin. You are able to climb up it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ So cool. Loved the blue toh (birds) that live there. The ruins are really nifty and you can see fossils of seashells in some of the stones. We went to a different cenote nearby and was amazing.
Definitely toasty weather though.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You wanna know more about mayans and swimming in a very very beautiful cenote? Take this excursion. First you go to a cenote. Prior to that, you are involved in a mayan ceremony. The cenote is awesome. I visited already a few, well, this one takes the cake. I won’t tell you everything, but you will love it. After swimming, a mayan lunch. Yummy ?. And then EK’ Balam. It blows you away. What a mighty people they must have been and still are. Good advice. You wanna see the real Mexico? Go ahead and enjoy ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were here around 10 AM, it was still hot to climb the ruin. The entrance was 495$ pp, we spend here max. 1.5h If you want to climb, it is worth a visit, otherwise I would not recommend it. In the end it is ‘just stones’.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visiting Ek Balam was not our original plan, but we are SO happy we did. We were able to actually climb the steps (not for the faint of heart or suggested for anyone with accessibility challenges - zero handrails, uneven steps), and that was SO cool. We arrived midday before 1pm, and I don't know if most tours just hadn't finished with Chichen Itza yet, but there were less than 10 cars in the lot when we arrived. If it was more crowded it would have been more scary to navigate all of those steps. If you travel with hiking/walking sticks, bring them with ya :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Recommend using a guided tour with transportation and entranced fees included. Makes for a more enjoyable visit. Take lots of sunscreen and water. Even in April it's very hot.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful Ek Balam we loved it. We recommend you to visit very early in the morning when they open. We found a few tourist maybe we were 6 in total for a long while it was amazing. From 11am tour buses from Cancun arrived and gets crowded but we enjoyed almost 2 hours by ourselves. Then we went to the cenote and it was also an amazing experience ❤️
