Lugar Único y Maravilloso a escasos 20 minutos de Tonalá, Chiapas. Ruinas arqueológicas en lo alto de las montañas. De verdad una vista y ambiente sin comparación.
Unique and Wonderful Place just 20 minutes from Tonalá, Chiapas. Archaeological ruins high in the mountains. Truly a view and atmosphere without comparison.

Es muy bonita, te sientes explorador. La zona está poco estudiada y restaurada. La vegetación es selvática y la vista desde ahí a 800 msnm es genial, se ve el mar a lo lejos. El camino es muy poco accesible. Autos bajos no pasarán. Hay tramos con mucha piedra grande y grava suelta. Recomiendo ir en autos altos o camionetas. Recomiendo llevar repelente de insectos hay mucho mosquito. En general recomiendo visitar la zona es preciosa.
It's very pretty, you feel like an explorer. The area is little studied and restored. The vegetation is jungle and the view from 800 meters above sea level is great, you can see the sea in the distance. The road is not very accessible. Low cars will not pass. There are stretches with lots of big stones and loose gravel. I recommend going in high cars or trucks. I recommend carrying insect repellent there is a lot of mosquito. In general I recommend visiting the area is beautiful.

Super bien. Una zona mágica. Limpio y cercana. Acabo de subir(tiempo de lluvia) y el camino en buen estado. Autobuses dudo mucho que entren por la altura y algunas pequeñas curvas que estan. Pero de ahí camionetas entra sin problemas. Autos entran igual pero un poco más tardado
Super good. A magical area. Clean and close. I just climbed (rainy weather) and the trail is in good shape. Buses I doubt that they enter because of the height and some small curves that are. But from there vans enter without problems. Cars enter the same but a little later

Very cool place! We were expecting a couple buildings but were shocked when the guide kept going farther and farther into the jungle showing us more buildings and carvings. There's a whole city back there! You can climb on everything and touch things and explore to your hearts content. The drive there was pretty intense but we did it in a minivan and survived. It definitely ranks up there in the top 2 worst roads we've ever driven. I'm glad we went once but the road would keep me from ever going again.

The place is worth going to. Nice landscape. Right now it is closed because of the pandemia but there is a nice gentleman who let me in. I don't know if he lets everyone but u can try. As for the road, it is ok. I posted a few pictures to know what to expect. Also there is a pic with the car I had (a small one: chevrolet spark). There are 2 small issues on the road: a hole like a ditch that shouldn't be taken going forward, but on a side, and a portion of 20m of sand, both doable. Just go slow and u'll be fine. Enjoy the history that lies behind and underneath those rocks!

Aprox. 15 kilometer from Tonala you find the Zona Archäologica Iglesia Vieja. From the mainroad it's a 7 kilometer ride on a dirt road. The road is in bad condition, but it's possible if you drive slow. You will maybe also have to open a cattledoor. (Don't forget to close it behind you!) At the sight you will be rewarded with some very solemn Temples in a shady wood and a beautiful view from the mountains to the sea. Don't forget to bring water. The area is not so big and the way is like a short walk. From the mainroad, the way is a little bit hard to find. The sign, saying Iglesia Vieja is very bleeched from the sun and hard to read.
