★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was a great Mayan site..I visited around late December and the weather was perfect and it wasn't overly crowded with tourists. I laid under a shade tree and just enjoyed this peaceful place

¡La vergüenza de Chiapas!
Sigue cerrado por causa de COVID.
After a magical journey through Chiapas, we pedaled up the steep dirt hill from Uninajab just to see this site only to be treated like dogs by the rude, lazy staff.
Closed due to COVID, they preferred to stay looking at their phones and collecting paychecks for doing nothing rather than being decent human beings. One only walked out from his government building to wave his arms angrily at us to go away. The "security guard" was surly and insistent it was too dangerous to risk letting people in. He could provide no information and had no idea when it would be open again, shifting blame elsewhere and wouldn't even let us use the empty bathroom facilities so, being quite ill at the time, i had no other option than to blow hot, frothy diarrhea in the ditch in front of the site.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is not free as others described! The entrance fee is 45 pesos. Which is very economical. We had a great time here with our children. Very few people come here and it makes for a great time to explore. Our family loved it! Bring water as there wasn’t any available on-sight. We started here early as it can get warm. Then follow up with El Chiflon for swimming!
We went from here to Chinkultic, another fun pyramid complex near the entrance to Lagos de Montebello.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Tenam Ruins were really in such a beautiful location. The trees were something I hadn't seen before, with moss and orchids growing everywhere. The ruins themselves were excellent, buried in the trees, in quite a large archeological site. Entrance is only MXN$ 45 (+/- $3), well worth it! Only 30 minutes and MXN$ 20 to get there by collectivo.
