Zona Arqueologica - Xochicalco

Very nice Archaeological zone, I went on Thursday and it was open to the public. The way to get there (without a car) is by the pullman bus, you get off at the rodeo town, then take a taxi ($50), on the way back you can take the blue bus and it takes you directly to the center of Cuernavaca.

The place is beautiful, Mr. Memo gives valuable information and takes good photos, the administration should pay more attention so that the place generates more to the people, the observatory still does not repair it and they should be working on it. It is worth going up, taking your time and learning about the place.

The archaeological zone is very beautiful, I feel that the place needs more diffusion. I went on Saturday and there were few people so the sanitary measures are respected without problem. Reading the QR code makes the explanation very enjoyable and the background music takes you back to those times. Unfortunately the museum is closed due to the pandemic. It is a large archaeological zone, it has very nice views around it since it was built on top of the mountain you can see a small lake called the rodeo, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. here there is a mixture of indigenous cultures, it is an astronomical place due to the location of the settlements highly recommended to know.

This archaeological zone is one of the best in the country, it has a large area, much like Teotihuacan but with the difference that Xochicalco has vegetation and trees which makes it an excellent place to walk, obviously being outdoors the earlier you visit. better, do not forget to bring a lot of natural water because the route is tiring and there is no food within the facilities. On Sundays, as in other ruins, the cost of access for Mexicans who present INE is free and children do not pay. Unfortunately since the 2017 earthquake the observatory has been permanently closed.

A very beautiful archeological area, a place with a lot of history and incredible landscapes. I don't really advise going in the summer as the landscape will be drier. Winter and autumn are the best times because everything is green. It is possible to spend hours getting to know the history of the place through the signs. You can download an application on your cell phone and interact through augmented reality with various plaques spread across the archeological zone. These plaques tell a little about the stories of the places and also the sculptures that can be found there. The road to get there is good, all paved, with only a stretch of stone when arriving. At the time I went, they were charging the entrance fee that had to be paid to the museum opposite the archeological zone.
