Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the dive spot and worked hard to insure that we saw the turtles. A definate must do when you are in Akumal.

And just like that, after contacting with Aramis few times to coordinate the diving classes for open water diver before my trip to Akumal, and then having the best instructor I could imagine, patient, knowledgeable and experienced Michele, who took me on some awesome dives in cenote and in the open ocean, I am a certified Open Water Diver. Of course, had to study for the quizzes and exams, but it was all worth it. Thank you Akumal Bay Dive Center for helping me get certified. hope to see you soon!!!

Just want to say a massive THANK YOU to all the team at Akumal Bay Dive Center. After a stressful couple of years, we wanted a relaxing holiday with the focus on diving and decided to return to the Akumal Beach Resort as we’d had a good experience at that hotel many years ago before the makeover. After talking to all 3 dive shops in the bay we went with these guys as Vito was super friendly and helpful. Everything was easy, we were given a locker close to the boat, so we didn’t have to carry all our gear up and down the beach every dive. I get incredibly seasick, so it was great for me that the dive sites are so close and the boats return to the shore between dives. All the guides were helpful, knowledgeable, fun and always helping us spot interesting sea life. We did most of our dives with Helder and Michelle (sorry if I spelt any names wrong!), both great guys. We always dived in small groups which meant that the guides could be attentive, and we got friendly with some of the other regular divers. Aramis also organised some centoe dives for us with Chino (a very experienced cave diver) which was a surreal and magical experience. I can’t recommend these guys enough; we had such a wonderful time and we really hope to come back one day ? Thanks again, Siân and Lee. xxx

This is a great place to go if you want to experience Sea Turtles or other Sea Animals up close for not a lot of money. The snorkeling equipment provided is in good condition and is cleaned/sterilized before each use. The water area you snorkel in is roped off and the guides do a good job to make sure you don’t get left behind. If you don’t want to snorkel and swim you can opt to pay for a boat experience and then be placed in areas where the sea life is. A few things to keep in mind are first, you are not allowed to bring your own camera. You have to trust the guide will take great pictures for you. Second, All personal items brought are stored in containers on the beach. If you are not comfortable with this I would suggest not bringing a lot with you for this experience. Third, you will be kicked out of the park if you touch a Sea Turtle. So, do not touch the turtles. Lastly, it can be a bit difficult to swim and snorkel in the ocean. If you have never done this before be prepared to drink a ton of sea water.
