★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La aparición de sociedades especializadas en diversos ámbitos científicos y culturales hizo que en 1870 del Castillo presentará una iniciativa para crear la Sociedad de Mineros de la República, la cual finalmente pudo cristalizar en 1883 como Sociedad Mexicana de Minería. Desde ahí procuró la difusión y reconocimiento de todo avance en beneficio de la industria minera nacional y para 1886 culminó otro de sus grandes proyectos con el gobierno: la creación de la Comisión Geológica de México (hoy Instituto de Geología, perteneciente a la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México). Una de las primeras tareas de este nuevo cuerpo fue en la Exposición Universal de París de 1889, donde se presentaron diversos trabajos, entre los que destacó el Catálogo de meteoritos mexicanos.
The emergence of societies specialized in various scientific and cultural fields made that in 1870 del Castillo will present an initiative to create the Mining Society of the Republic, which finally could crystallize in 1883 as the Mexican Mining Society. From there he sought the dissemination and recognition of all progress for the benefit of the national mining industry and by 1886 another of his major projects with the government culminated: the creation of the Geological Commission of Mexico (now the Institute of Geology, belonging to the National Autonomous University from Mexico). One of the first tasks of this new body was at the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1889, where various works were presented, among which the Catalog of Mexican meteorites stood out.
