They charged me more 200 dollars more for my rental car... Lesson number 2.. never rent a car in Mexico again, they are so dishonest...

We had a booking and once we arrived to pick up our car, we waited 1.5 hours for our vehicle before cancelling out of frustration. They were sending our vehicle from the Avis at the airport. The entire service is extremely slow and frustrating. Rent a car elsewhere.

We reserved a car and got a quote but when we brought it back we were charged "cleaning" fees and also double gas charges that we were not told about when we picked up the car. Will not rent from them again but will use bus or uber. We paid $70 more than quoted

I went down to the desk to rent a car, nobody was there. I called the number on the desk, and the agent said she would be back in 30 minutes. When she arrived, she asked me if I needed to rent the car now, because she was busy and needed to go to a meeting that would take 45 minutes. I didn't rent a car, and as a previous review said, I recommend that you go somewhere else. It is not worth the hassle.

Couple things. The Avis office that you would think is located in this area where the address herein is advertised does not exist. Other thing: when you rent a car with Avis and you are told via website to be at this location to pick up your car some guy from Avis shows up and picks you up in front of a hotel located in the general area advertised online. However Avis doesn't bother telling you this until you are already in that general area, and when they do tell you, it's some lady that works for Avis who is actually at the airport location where your vehicle actually is. They should tell you this to save you time AT THE MOMENT YOU MAKE THE RESERVATION. I think many people certainly myself included would have just driven straight to the airport rather than arriving at a place that doesn't exist and looking around for this non existent building and then attempting to make a phone call to Avis headquarters to find out what the hell is going on.

There is no Avis location here. You call their international number and can arrange a pick up at the Secrets hotel.

Rented a car from Avis using Expedia for $331.47 + $88 for the Expedia insurance. I knew there would be a large hold, so I chatted into Avis Mexico Whatsapp to get the costs. Was told it was $30,000 peso hold ($1,500 USD ) if I declined coverage, or $649 charge and no hold if I wanted their coverage. I declined, and arrived at the rental today. The man working the counter was SO helpful, however informed me that the hold to decline coverage was actually $2,500-5,000 USD because it was a third party, the $1,500 was only if booking directly through them. Massive hold difference, so beware of that. You CAN decline their coverage, however the preauth is expensive if you do.

I rented a car here for a day trip to Sayulita. I did not have a reservation & walked in on a Friday morning. The agents were all SUPER nice & very efficient. You have to understand that Mexico requires their rental car drivers to purchase THIER insurance which can indeed increase your final rental price double or triple. My final price including insurance & tax was $24. This is very reasonable & very much in line with prices I would pay in the USA. This insurance is mandated by the country....NOT the rental car agencies. Perhaps it would be less confusing if the rental car companies would advertise the price with the insurance but just the same, One has to realize that renting a car for $7/$12 a day is not realistic. I would and will definitely rent from this location again. BTW, the vehicle was a very new Nissan Versa.
