★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a fantastic experience with Avis Merida Airport thanks to the incredible service provided by Nancy. We had had a very hard time with some of the other car rental agencies and Nancy looked after us. She was transparent, was working to help us find the best car for our budget, and extremely professional. No upselling, hidden fees, or any complication. Nancy helped make us feel welcome in our first night in Merida and did a lot to ease what could have been a stressful situation. Nancy also checked up on us to make sure everything was okay which I have never seen another car agency do. Very human, personable experience throughout conducted with the utmost professionalism. When you stop by the Avis rental agency make sure to ask for Nancy if she’s working. Best car rental experience we’ve had anywhere we’ve travelled!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ BS policies with deposit. Just try to sell their insurances and don’t respect the ones you buy via 3rd party like rentalcars. We ended up having to downgrade our class of car from premium to basic, although we have paid for premium class and additionally had to pay for extra insurance in order to lower the deposit as our credit card does not 70,000 pesos credit limit! That’s what they call customer service!! Good luck!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I rented a car online from Merida to Cancun and paid for it on Avis' site. When I got to the office, they informed me that there would be a $180 charge for a different drop off. The agent told me that if I didn't want to pay it, that she would cancel it. But it turns out that she didn't, and that the cancellation fee is $150. I've never been treated so badly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We booked the car online, received confirmation with all the information about price and deposit. When we arrived to pick up the car it turned out that what we received in the email is not what we have to pay for the car and the deposit we have to leave is almost 10 x bigger. Misleading the customer. Definitely do not recommend this place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I reserved online, then as I arrived they simply refused to rent me the car because I paid with a debit card, but they require a credit card for huge security deposits. The website mentions that you can pay with both but it simply is not true. At least I got a full refund (2 weeks later).
On that same day, other customers discovered they had to pay additional insurance fees way more expensive than what they had already paid online. Simply dishonest.
This is the worst experience with a rental company ever. Really disappointed with Avis Mexico. Avoid this agency.
