Never stayed here however from the outside it looks like a beautiful place and has a nice beach.

Friendly and very accommodating staff. Beautiful air conditioned rooms. Like staying in an Ewok village. If planning on staying in El Cuyo bring lots of cash and liquor because there are no banks or ATMs and zero liquor stores.

Very unique architecture, and very unique location. Was left pretty much to myself most of the time, which I liked, but some may not. It's very quiet around here at night as you're a bit removed from the main part of town which, again, I liked, but some may not. Very close to the beach and not far to walk to the main part of town either. Just hope you don't have anyone in the other room taking part in any 'nocturnal activities' - the whole structure shakes pretty noticeably as it's all pretty raw woodwork. Very nice look, but you will feel that kind of thing! Very friendly staff and very nice location.

A real disappointment. The cabin itself is really a cool idea and you can see that it has being done with taste. Unfortunately, it is really run-down. Our terrace was in a terrible state, the hamac was hanging by the banister, the deck-chair has a very very tired mattress and it was dirty. The room floor was so dirty that I went to grab the broom at the entrance to swipe. The toilet brush looks like to be here since ages and so dirty again. The outside shower concept is super fun and very enjoyable. The common areas (pool, sun chairs, kitchen…) are not clean neither. The pool water is opaque, the sun chair mattress dirty, the kitchen do not know where to begin with. I have started with “real disappointment” as I love to experiment something different while on vacation and Balao has the potential but it is not well taking care of. Hope that the owner will do something about it really soon. In the meantime, I do not recommend this place as there are other options around same price, same different feeling than a traditional hotel but clean.

The concept in theory is good but the place is not maintained at all. Limited to no service. We had to seperately request for water and toilet papers. Sink in the Kitchen was left uncleaned and stinking. Swimming pool water was not recycled or cleaned. The care takers were kind to attend to requests though.
