Blake's Restaurant & Bar - 48333 Puerto Vallarta

Probably bottom of the list for the many restaurants we have tried while living in PV. Several requests to our waiter were not delivered, simple things like water at the beginning of the meal. Fifteen minutes after ordering our waiter came back and said “we don’t have some ingredients to make what you ordered”, which is ok, just why did it take 15 minutes to figure that out. My daughter’s backup order was a cheese quesadilla and when it was delivered she asked for sour cream, which was never delivered. Our server highly recommended the ribs, said they were the chef specialty, with a homemade BBQ sauce; I bit. The ribs arrived and they were massive, larger than the plate. Now, something magical happens to pork ribs when they reach around 200 degrees. The collagen breaks down, creating one of the greatest dining experiences imaginable. Tender, succulent, melt in your mouth goodness. These were not those ribs. They were not cooked long enough, making them tough stringy and barely palatable. Ribs like these are hard to cut and with the flimsy knife and too small plate it took my complete focus to avoid flipping them off the table or onto my dining companions laps. Really not a great experience. The only reason I could see going here would be to watch hockey, which they had on multiple TVs and it’s hard to mess up delivering beer.

They changed locations since I was last here, they no longer have the outdoor patio seating and it looks like new staff. My order was forgotten, then the bills for both couples had to be recalculated twice. First, we were both charged an extra beer, mine was at $30 pesos, my friends was $40 pesos, then the new total didnt add up, my friends was missing his main course altogether. It was fustrating. Other than that, service was ok and food was good.

Went to Blakes yesterday with friends to listen to music drinks and some food. Music was great, waiters were great but disappointed in the food prices. Paid 500 pesos ( $32 Cad) for an mixed appy plater for 2-4 people. Got 6 wings, 6 onion rings, 6 calamari rings, 3 cheese sticks 3 chicken strips and a small bowl of poutine, 3 fish strips maybe i missed something. To me seemed extremely light on food for the price. It was tasty so no complaints for that. Maybe expecting too much but felt like very overpriced compared tonother places i have been .

Excellent ribs. The best in all of Vallarta. Fish tacos too were excellent. They also have a fantastic live band

The food was ok. I had fish tacos and they were more coleslaw than fish. My hubby had the beef sandwich (daily special) and he said it was pretty good. I did really like the fries.

I've been coming to Puerto Vallarta for since 2010 and I have to say that this was, by far, the worst dining experience I've had here. The waiter appeared to be stoned, took our order and then after we waited a half an hour for food, we were told that they were out of the ribs (which three in our party of 6 had ordered). Then we waited more, and they brought out 3 of our dinners, and then after another half an hour, (the first three had finished their dinners by this time) they brought out the other three. The fish and chips were the worst fish and chips I ever had...it tasted like everything had been fried in old oil and the fries were soggy and limp. The waiter apologized and said they were "busy" and backed up, but it didn't look crowded to me, there was lots of open tables. Our group of 6 couldn't wait to get out of there. Oh, and I almost forgot...when we got the bill, they charged us for 9 entrees (they forgot to remove the 3 dinners that they were out of and we never got). Be sure to check your bill.

Went yesterday for music. Arrived at 1:30 for 3:00 show. Told all tables up top reserved so we’re put in patio. Shortly after a couple arrived and sat inside, no res. Asked again about sitting up there..all tables reserved the lady said..Then another couple arrived and sat inside, so went and asked if they had reserved. They said no, was their first time there. So finished our drinks and left, didn’t care for atmosphere or attitude. Stopped at Cafe Roma on way home and had fabulous time, and discovered new fav. band to follow for next couple months. Totally different atmosphere there

It has a cool atmosphere and the owner is really nice. They have live music and 5 or 6 tvs to watch games. The food is ok
