WORST QUALITY OF VEHICLE *DANGEROUS* and HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! DO NOT RENT HERE! This was my official complaint and Budget did NOTHING about it, and told me they would continue to rent out this DEATH TRAP of a vehicle. UNETHICAL!!! READ THIS: I'm submitting a complaint regarding the vehicle I just rented in Puerto Vallarta mexico. The vehicle that was given to my wife and me was a complete safety hazard and we nearly had life-threatening experiences due to the improper care of the vehicle. These are the three largest issues we had on our 7-day trip: 1. The brake rotors were severely warped so at low, medium, and especially at high speed the car would shake uncontrollably. Numerous times I nearly lost control of the car while braking, forcing me off the road due to the shaking of the vehicle. I have video proof of this horrible maintenance issue. 2. The temperature was over 90° in Mexico and for 7 Days the air conditioning did not work. We rented a car and was promised air conditioning and only hot air blew out and more than a handful of times, we suffered heat stroke throughout the day. It's not only made for an uncomfortable travel experience, but at times due to dehydration and heatstroke, I was worried for our well-being. 3. The vehicles windshield had a huge crack that ran the length of the entire front windshield from driver side all the way to passenger side. The crack was right in the eye line of the driver and was a distraction as well as a safety hazard especially while driving at night for us. When I told Fernanda and Lorenzo at the front desk about these issues they scoffed and laughed at me, refusing to answer any of my questions. When I did ask if they would rent this out again, they said YES. This is absolutely inappropriate behavior nor did they offer any type of support, help, or offer for refund. DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE, THIS IS A BLATANT DISREGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE AND SAFETY. I'm appalled by the quality of the vehicle, and quality of service and immediately request refund and apology from management at budget. I have video proof of the car shaking due to the brakes, the cracked glass and non functional AC in 90 deg heat. I need a manager to contact me immediately to address this experience and offer an immediate refund. In all the years I have been renting from Budget and Avis, this was by far the worst ever.

Set this rental up threw Exsperian ,Payed for extra insurance to the tune of 168.00 Then driven to location beware don’t do this, you are more or less locked in to deal with them .Or hire a cab to get back to airport,The place is a total rip off!!!! I believe the only positive reviews they get are because they offer a 100.00 dollars back for high reviews.Make since rip you off for 1100.00 and give you a 100.00 back!!! Don’t think the credit card company’s are going to help !!!!Thats another big zero ,sent in 18 pages of documents, with comps ,contracts before and after. They say call the merchant,I did my ears hurt from all the laughs coming over the phone from the merchant,of coarse. Please just beware of this place.Mexico is a great place,But they need to stop this rip off of US citizens.Oh one more thing don’t think Budget USA is going to help they come up with the private contractor B.S. line so no help there even if you make the reservation thur Budget USA.

Worst Car RentalExperience Ever in Puerto Vallarta Mexico Reverved a car on Budget site (03717752US3) $58.68 for a day ($69.08 total) - carefully read all terms and conditions to confirm no "surprises" at the rental counter. Budget site confirmed that rental includes minimum liability coverage. When we arrived for pickup the Agents - Edwardo de Jesu's and Ballote Sanchez advised there would be an additional charge of $65 (more than double the rental car cost) for liability coverage. I of course told them they were incorrect provided my phone/online conformation - with all terms and conditions clearly spelled out. After using my phone to try and find anything that would justify their proposed charges they gave up - and simple said "it was a government requirement". At this point - already 30 minutes late I advise them to proceed with the additional charge and that I would take it up with Budget and my credit card issuer later. At that point they said they would not rent me the car. I then called Budget Customer Care from the Counter and explained my predicament to them. Both Agents refused to speak to the Budget representative that I had on the phone. The Budget rep says there was little they could do other than file a formal complaint against the location - which they did - but of no help to me. I then went down the street two blocks to the National / Enterprise rental location and rented a car WITH NO REQUIREMENT FOR ADDITIONAL LIABILITY COVERAGE. Unfortunately they only had a van left to rent and the cost was significantly more that the car I reserved previously. STEER CLEAR of Budget - there are plenty of honest hard working people/agencies in Puerto Vallarta to deal with - Pass this along to everyone you know!!

Horrible experience. The lady over the phone told me it would be $145.00 US with the insurance and when we got there and there was a long line behind us told us no it was $211.00 US. The vehicle could not go up a hill it died on us. We had to turn the AC off to make it up a smaller hill. It pulled to the right we almost got hit several times because the vehicle would not go even with the foot all the way down on the floor. We will NEVER use Budget again. We will tell all our friends to do the same. Steer clear of Budget rental

Absolutely awful on every level. They tell you that a mandatory insurance is required by law. On the website it claims to be included. What was advertised as 47/day turned into 156. Bait and switch. I told them forget it and left to go to another place next door. The supervisor then agreed to give it to me for 86. I returned it the next day and they charged an additional fee...making it 156. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM.

I didn't know tourist traps like this still existed. I had rented the vehicle through Kayak thinking that this was a Budget vehicle location and I'm still not sure if that's the case. My original price of the rental was $338.71 all in with the fees. Upon arrival the staff at this location mentioned I need to pay an additional $350 USD for supplemental insurance required by Mexican law which is completely untrue. As someone who spends 4-6 months out of the year in Mexico and operates a business from Mexico there is no mandatory liability insurance required in Jalisco or elsewhere for that matter. When returning the car there was an additional fees they tried to charge for insurance with a bill that totalled nearly $1,200. I refused to pay and left the car without signing and will dispute the charge with my bank. I'd suggest others do the same. It's a shame that businesses like this are able to exist. Steer clear of this place at all costs.

Do your research before renting a car here! The price we were quoted online was way cheaper than what they tried to charge us at the rental place. Look into what the minimum liability requirements are in Mexico before signing/paying for your car. (The website and car rental showed very different amounts) don't be afraid to ask questions and be firm about what you want. You can find cheaper collision coverage through your credit card or third party. They shuttled us to/from the airport which was nice. Take note of how much gas they give you before you leave the lot, and take pictures of dents/scratches before you leave so they don't charge you upon return. Overall, not a bad experience.

Rim scam with tie wraps but will charge you if they fall off and you don't bring the rim back! This agency provides cars with tie wraps on the rims and even though they confirmed it would be safe, during our trip two of the rims fell off on the road. We were able to bring one back of the two. They actually charged us for the missing rim. I have now contacted the manager to claim this and get reimbursed but they are no longer answering. This agency is clearly aware of this and in my opinion is practicing a well established scam! Do not reserve from them. A new low in car rental scams in Mexico!
