Carlota Home Bakery - 77720 Playa del Carmen

Offering a concise menu from 7:00am until 10:00pm daily, Carlota Home Bakery has gained notoriety amongst tourists for quick service and accessible options, an early stop on Tuesday neither bad nor particularly memorable save for the fact that prices trend higher than Playa del Carmen’s more traditional Bakeries. Small in size, a half dozen tables bridging interior to patio, it was after being informed that menu items are only offered for dine-in that seats were taken, Pastries such as the Cinnamon Roll and Carrot Cake unremarkable while layered Corn Cake and delicate Alfajores fared better. Waiting nearly fifteen minutes for the rest, a Ham and Cheese Croissant laughably small and the Viennoiserie no better than pre-frozen, Carlota’s Frappuccino was mostly froth and Ice Cubes while the Avocado Toast was stingy in its toppings but clever in terms of the “Toad in the Hole” plating.

We enjoyed pastries and breakfast here twice while we were in Playa. Small, but worth the wait. The avocado toast was delicious. As were the waffles and french toast. Staff was nice and helpful. Enjoy!

It's pricey for the volume you get. Taste doesn't really justify the cost. Not a lot of selection at night unfortunately.

The staff is very nice, the location is great, and same with the atmosphere. I would always order the smoothie, and while it seems it takes a long time to arrive, I would not complain - and what's the rush? The last time I attended, it took very long (20 minutes), and I left without getting my order. If not for this experience, I would have given higher rating.

Best breakfast!! The waffles and French toast were both amazing, definitely recommend a stop here! Not much seating space, so get here early!

Used to love this place when i first came to it. Good food, reasonably priced, and with healthy choices, too. No long wait & the service was friendly & nice, for lack of a better word, but this time, the server was lethargic. One would think they would be on top of their customers, but sadly not every time apparently. 5 prospective customers couldnt wait that long and just left. One customer offered her table because she was done and was just waiting to pay. We were waiting for our bill, all done a while ago and seeing other people wanting to eat, too. I dont mean to be whiney, but they dont have to shoo away or hurry people up (some are on vacation, so they just want to chill), but when they are done, they shouldnt have to wait to find the servers to pay for their bill?. It is a small place, with less than 10 tables. If everyone eating there dont have consciences intact, they can just walk out and not pay, but we are all civilized law-abiding people, so we just wait??‍♀️??‍♀️??‍♀️. Just saying, hoping management/owner, will be more mindful. We all cant wait forever. You are losing customers, Carlota. Dont need to shoo away people, but when they are done, just keep an eye and walk over - either they want to pay already or they want to order more. Kinda lose appetite for more when you’ve to wait forever to order again, so ill just go somewhere else. This was disappointing??.

Great corner low key spot. Get there early and enjoy a good cup of coffee. The french toast and almond croissant are good picks. Service is slow at peak times but worth the wait. #bakery #coffee

Came for the baking and stayed for lunch. I was going to get a treat, then realized it was lunch time. Had the Sorrento Ham Sandwich. Panini style. Real Italian ham. With a small green salad. Apple torte for dessert and a smoothie to go with all. Very pleasant and attentive service. Small inside. Lovely seating outside. Open early—come and enjoy.
