★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hands down best barbacoa I’ve probably ever had. They are only open on Saturdays & Sundays so make sure to plan accordingly. Fresh homemade tortillas put the tacos over the top. Everyone who works there is very welcoming and more than happy to show you how things are done. 100% recommend stopping here if you are headed to Bacalar.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This small roadside restaurant serves up carnitas tacos and carnitas tacos only. Well, you can get the carnitas by the kilo without the tortillas. They have two options with or without the fat, as a guero I picked the without option. The tacos are quite large and served on hand-made tortillas with a range of accouterments. Very reasonable prices as well, which is a synonym for cheap. The only minus, they shut down the taco-shack at 2 pm.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm all about roadside places in Mexico. And this place has some of the best carnitas I've ever had. Hand made tortillas are generously served along with fresh condiments. You can buy it by the kilo. Tacos for days. So good.
