Las carnitas son frescas y del día, bebidas de agua natural y refresco, lo que sí: cuidado con las salsas?, verdaderamente PICOSAS, te pueden dormir el oído ?, la orden de carnitas sí la consumes en el sitio te incluye tortillas y salsas, su versión para llevar es más económica y no las incluye, el precio por kilo es de menos de $350 y por bebidas en menos de $20. Excelente opción para cambiar los mariscos ?. Lunes a Lunes de 7:00 a 16:00. Tiene las 3B: Bueno, Bonito Barato??

Pork tacos that will change your life

Delicious tacos! The tacos are filled generously and the cups of horchata are huge. Would definitely eat here again!

After paying $8 for warm beer and walking around the over priced cruise port of Costa Maya, we walked out the back port resort gates and found a taxi to tour the area and get some real local food. We found Felipe Sanchez of "Taxi Tours of Costa Maya" and arranged for a two hour $25 per hour taxi tour of the city,a beach stop and a restaurant stop of Mahahual. Fellipe spoke great English and lived in the area, too. He found a van to take the four of us in and took us into the small beachside town near the port. He surprised us with a first stop at a tequila museum that had a free tequila making process discussion and tequila tasting. After about a dozen free taste sampling, Felipe took us to a deserted dirt road downtown and pulled up to a green and white open air wooden shack with a few patio chairs and tables. We were the first customers of the day (aprox. 11am) at Carnitas Merchant so Fellipe double checked to see if the food was ready. The owner/cook said it was and Felipe got us drinks and menus. $5 for two tacos with rice and beans was an easy choice for all four of us. We could see and smell the chicken,beef, and pork cooking in the back of the place thru the screened in kitchen. Soon our taco plates were brought out in warm hand made corn tortillas and a separate tray with freshly diced taco toppings. Bottom line: the food was delicious, the atmosphere was authentic local and the price for two was less than $20 for a full belly of food and drinks. So skip the high priced cruise port and go find a local taxi and support the local community and experience the real Mexíco.

A family place with the best darn pork tacos I've ever had. I've had some great BBQ but seriously this was top shelf. The owner and his wife where kind, and generous as well. Really went out of his way to provide great service. If you bring kids ask em to show you his pet parrots.
