I hesitate to leave a review for hidden jems like Casa Ambar, as I’ll be staying there every time I come back to Tulum and would hate for it to be fully booked. First, most hotels in tulum are like 1-3k per night, this one is a fraction of the cost. It's the same water, dust, mosquitoes, etc. at all the hotels whether you are paying for a premium or not. The location of casa ambar couldn’t be better. It’s walking distance to everywhere you’d want to go (Rosa Negra, Bagatelle, IT Tulum, Mia, illios, Saikuk, etc). Walking distance to the day-clubs and nightclubs. Cabs are a nightmare/ rip off. The hotel is not on the beach, it’s across the street, but they have two sister hotels (one with beach front with beds and one with a cenote). If you go to their sister hotel beach for a day bed it's free, if you go to a beach club (which I highly recommend) then you have to pay for beds/ loungers). The new manager at Casa Ambar is Adriana & she personally made sure every guest was happy, and she's very pretty. From check in, she had the workers carry the bags to the room, to checking out, she made everything seamless. The last reviews (2 years ago) on the hotel mentioned it was very noisy. I’m a light sleeper so I was very nervous. Adriana offered me an upgraded room for a few dollars more to make sure I was comfortable. The noise wasn't an issue, it was faint at best. Some of the rooms have air conditioning, and some do not. They’re in the process upgrading each room and the hotel, & she's open to any suggestions. Antonio also helped us with finding Covid tests (which are everywhere) and booking our excursions. He put together a magical afternoon of Cenotes and tour of the ruins (including private transportation for a good price). Continental breakfast is included daily (fruit, coffee, toast). I got a carton of eggs from the gomart (highly recommended as the eggs in Mexico are amazing). There’s a minimalist community kitchen there with a shared fridge. They have a water cooler in the community kitchen for people to fill up their bottles & they provide containers of waters in each room. Cell Phone service is dodgy & the infrastructure in tulum is mediocre, so if it rains, everyone’s WiFi’s go out (including hotels and restaurants). Bring bug spray ! Wish I took more photos of the hotel. I put a few on from the sister hotel at the beach and cenote - enjoy!

I stayed at casa ambar and enjoyed the private cenote of the sister hotel and access to the beach with their other. The free bike rentals made it super easy to get around to both. Super reccomend staying here as it's in the perfect location and you enjoy the benefits of 3 hotels

The rooms were clean and big. A very comfortable stay. I would say the highlight was the extremely friendly and welcoming staff. Especially Matt, who was attentive and knowledgeable about the area. Would stay here again!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! I have video proof of mice running around the kitchen were they cook your breakfast! The “manager” of this property tried to call me a liar and said I took the video at a different property, it’s blatantly obvious it’s their kitchen because the photos of the kitchen correspond with my video ? Absolutely disgusting hotel and the staff are the worst I have ever dealt with especially the manager who is extremely ignorant and rude! €1700 for 5 nights and we only stayed for 1 night as we were repulsed at how filthy our room was, we had no hot water in fact the water wouldn’t even come out if the shower when we turned the hot water on! The bed sheets were covered in orange stains and they also felt damp, we had to sleep with our clothes over the pillows! Only one plug in the whole room actually worked! The room was covered in dust, I have asthma and really struggled to breath hence why we only stayed the one night. The noise was unbearable! We could hear conversations being had in the reception from our room, you could hear people walking up and down the stairs at 6 in the morning! If you value your money AT ALL I highly advise to avoid staying at this hotel!
