We loved our stay at Casa Bakal! Very relaxed vibe, great service, and phenomenal views of lagoon. Breakfast, paddle boarding and kayaking all comes included which was a huge plus. Wifi is good for emailing/web surfing but not great for calls. Would definitely stay here again!

Everything was just perfect. The staff is extremely helpful, friendly and very professional. The location is beautiful and the amenities very nice. We took a boat tour which was beautiful, the skipper was really friendly. Last, but definitely not least, their kitchen is excellent! We would have loved to stay longer and will now dream to come back. Thank you to the casa bakal staff for making this experience so unforgettable .

Loved this place, what a fantastic location right on the lagoon. A little far to walk into town but cabs are very cheap. Book your boat trip ahead of arriving as it can get booked up. Paddle boards and kayaks free to use but no bikes available. Wednesday you are not allowed to boat or paddle on the lagoon so bear this in mind when booking.

peaceful , quite lagoon area is ideal if you’d like to disconnect and have a quiet time . Casa bakal is nice but basic and overpriced for what it is . The restaurant & bar staff is super friendly and helpful . The reception however isn’t … rather unpleasant and need to be reminded many times about any requests . I liked the fact there were vegetarian options in the menu. We were booked for 3 nights but only stayed for 2 as it didn’t really meet our expectations.

This spot was awesome! Right on the beautiful lagoon! Incredible staff and great food/drinks. We got the private room with shared bathroom accomodation. It was on the main floor of the complex. It was rough the first night as there was a big group having dinner on the patio and we heard everything- just have those expectations and I wouldn’t recommend this type of room if you’re a light sleeper. The bathrooms were also shared by not only the 3 other rooms with the same accomodation type, but anyone in the hotel can use them. So sometimes kids who were wet from the pool would use them and the whole bathroom would be wet. And they were a bit stinky. Again, just have those expectations and you’ll be fine. For the price, it was still a good deal. Breakfast is included, continental style and you can select one item from a full menu. Alexis took care of us both mornings - he is awesome! We also opted to have dinner there the first night. Food was really good! They have a nicer restaurant next door which we didn’t try but other guests told us it was even better. We had drinks at the bar while we hung out. Charlie was our bartender. He makes a great passion fruit margarita! He also gave us great tips on which restaurants to try. We did the sail boat tour which is a must! The boat is docked in the water. We did the 3 hour tour but we wish we would have done the full day. The boat is perfect for 2 people. Highly recommend to book in advance because it does sell out quickly. We also did the sunrise paddle tour. This was a highlight for sure! Fruit and coffee as the sun rises on top of the Black Cenote… so special! Worth waking up early in the morning! Only time you’ll be on the water without powerboats or jet skis - so peaceful and calm! Be sure to take advantage of this tour! It’s not on their website but the water sports team out back can set it up for you. Our guide was awesome! I wish I remembered his name - but he’s one of the best SUP boarders in Mexico - working on competing in the world championships. Super awesome guy who gave us so much information on the lagoon, local and Mexican culture and great tips on where to go / what to see. I can’t wait to go back!

The most beautiful lagoon side hotel, our room was huge and very spacious with a private hammock and tiny pool. The staff was super nice and welcoming and at night there were lights everywhere which made the bar and pool seem very enchanting. Love it would definitely visit again!

Loved staying here, can’t wait to go back. Staff was friendly and helpful, hotel is beautiful, full breakfast is quite good and included in the room rate, and it’s a truly dog friendly place which is wonderful. The rooms are pretty but spare and could use a few improvements; there’s no full length mirror despite plenty of wall space, no blackout curtains, no hooks in the room to hang anything, no hooks to put towels or suits to dry on the deck. These small additions would go a long way to make this magical place even better.

Had the pleasure of staying here for two night in one of their standard bungalows. Long story short: it was very difficult not to book a third night. The lake front location means stunning views, the bungalow was clean and well appointed and the hotel in general has some nice amenities. Bear in mind that this hotel’s location also means you’re effectively dependent on taxis to get in and out of town, but aside from that minor practicality: thoroughly enjoyed my stay here!
