Casa Luca - 77710 Playa del Carmen

Amazing stay at Casa Luca! The place is well positioned and close to main attractions in Playa such as Coco Bongo, the night clubs and the beach. The service staff are very friendly and the room is really clean. We got stuck near Chichen Itza and had to check out a bit later and the owner was so understanding about our situation. The only downside is that the hot water kept running out after a minute or so. Wasn't a big deal for us as it was quite warm when we visited in any case :)

We have stayed at Casa Luca twice, each time for a month and we absolutely love the place. It has all you need for a great vacation with adequate kitchen facilities, regular house cleaning and and great terrace to relax and enjoy..! The location is only a block away from 5th ave but still in a quiet location. There is a great Spanish restaurant nearby and sushi across the street as well as dozens more to choose from. 10 minutes walk and you are at Mamitas beach. The price is great and you better book early cause they book fast.

Great pandemic prices, lots of stairs for the exercise and good rooms with space. The property news hard to get ahold of and check in was not described well. But, the location is good and worth the price when I stayed.

Our experience at the Casa Luca in Playa del Carmen was unsatisfactory, to say the least. At first we were confronted with hair on the bed sheets, dust on the tabletops, traces of excrement in the toilet, as well as further evidence of sustained lack of proper cleaning. Additionally, many of the furnishings and kitchenware was not present as advertised, and the falling curtain rod and sharp, pointy objects on the balcony posed a risk of injury. After the first night we decided to cancel our reservation for the subsequent 18 nights, asking Casa Luca for a refund. They refused, claiming that the platform booking.com wouldn't let them. Booking.com confirmed that if the conditions were not as stated, we would be eligible for a $746.35 USD refund, which Casa Luca refused to give us. We offered them to either vacate the place for a full refund, or stay for the remainder of our visit if they could refund us $250 USD. Casa Luca rejected both offers, and instead tried to compensate for the lack of a decent service by offering us "free breakfast". This was too little to make up for our inconvenience, and we felt it was more an affront than a willing response to our situation. We left Casa Luca and had to spend time on our vacation having to look for another place to stay. We highly recommend anyone coming to Playa del Carmen to stay away from this establishment (and probably the others that are run by the same owners – Casa Leo and Casa del Arbol), which not only offers substandard service, but proves to be unwilling and unprofessional in addressing their guests' concerns.

Aside from being close to beaches,15 minutes walking distance, it does not offer much more. My wife and I spend over a month from May 2021 to mid-June 2021, and lived in two different units. So, it is extremely noisy with regular traffic and the fact that it is the main gathering for Uber Eats and other delivery guys on their motorcycle right below the hotel, you also get Pata Negar restaurant below the 1st floor banging dishes late at night around 10:30 pm to midnight, dishes don't get washed during the day. Pros: Close to the beaches and 5th Avenida It has some cute and big balconies. Fatima and Rosa are good at trying to accommodate the guess. f Cons: Remember this hotel promotes itself as a good option for a long stay with all amenities needed. You don't get what you see, the photo are mostly for the penthouse. Different rooms with different amenities, or lack of amenities, Small fridge, some rooms don't have a microwave, coffee maker, or knives or dishes, or glasses or cutting board, the list goes on. The first unit which we stayed, unit 22, has a dangerous floor plan, not recommended for elderly, but it does have a cute balcony. The bed in all units is not comfortable by any standard, you feel every spring. During our stay, we asked other digital nomads to test their mattresses. The couch in all units is a hard cushion pad placed on a concrete slab, for real. YOU SHARE THE INTERNET WITH EVERYONE ON THE SAME Floor, not just slow but it is also unsecure. Air-condition in our second room worked 40% of the time, the rest it was hot like an oven. In the second unit, we had two chairs and a table that was the size of almost a child play table. My wife and I couldn't eat together, and not to mention that we could not sit longer than 10 minutes on the chairs. The owner is not an honest person, we could not get our deposits back. Although he had promised to give us the deposit back by 11 am on June 1st in cash, since we had paid in cash, but he refused to talk to us and give us the money back. After three hours of argument between myself and the hotel staff, Fatima decided to give me her own money and she assured me that she would get it back from the owner. I felt bad for Fatima and I decided to stay few days extra without paying; instead of taking the cash from her. Just an FYI: we also stayed at the other location, Casa del arbol and it is about 3.5 km from the center and not much better than Casa luca. Trust Fatima for the most part, Rosa is the housekeeper so she does not have any saying, but do not trust Manuel - he lies. When we first moved to Casa del Arbol, he told us we have our own internet while pointing at the modem inside of our room. He also told me that we are getting the executive room since I paid a bit extra. The next day,I found out not only we were not in the executive room, but the modem was just plugged in to make it look like we have internet connection, in fact, we are using the lobby internet and it was as slow as Sunday car drivers. Just a note on the hotel standards of Mexico, what we call executive and penthouse are not the same as what you get in most of Mexico. Bottom line, Casa Luca, Mi Esposa Y Mi nunca.

Years staying in apartments and I never had such a horrible experience like in this place. The apartment didn't have locks in the window and the stole my computer. The landlord didn't want to be responsible for this bit according to him, he will be keen on extending my stay for free for two weeks, after a few days he sends me a WhatsApp message and kicks me out. This place is unsafe, noisy and I found cockroaches. I do not recommend staying at this place at all and I hope you don't either.

It was the worst experience ever. Our stay was a disaster. No good experience: - Very bad attention, the internet was not working, the refrigerator was broken since it had not been defrosted in months and we lost food because it was not cold (when we asked them to defrost it to clean it, they told us to do it ourselves... we lost an afternoon on it ). - There were a lot of ants everywhere and the answer they gave us to both problems was that: they were very busy, that's why they couldn't clean or fumigate. - One day they took the towels and didn't replace them, so we couldn't take a bath. - Another big problem is that they don't have a permanent receptionist, they only come for a while in the afternoon, so no one helps you with problems until it's too late. - They do not have an elevator... it was a problem to carry the luggage up 4 flights of stairs, as well as going up and down them every day. - The coffee maker was broken and could not be used. - It does not have a terrace as indicated in the description. - When you report problems, they don't give you solutions. In short, if you want to enjoy Playa del Carmen I recommend you not to go to this place, you will lose a lot of money and you will regret it forever. It was a lousy choice for the price we paid.
