Spent the best week staying in a gorgeous room overlooking the jungle canopy at Casa Mia to learn kite control from Marco and the great community he has built here at his “Sweet Spot.” We met so many amazing locals (and other travelers) thanks to the incredible hospitality of Marco. El Cuyo is a cool laidback town but staying at Casa Mia and learning to kitesurf with ExtremeControl was what made this a fantastic vacation experience.

Great views, spacious rooms, very close to the beach and good internet speed. Marcos, the owner and staff are kind and attend to your requests immediately, which always feels welcoming! We felt our room (Ocean and Jungle view) was a bit expensive for the price we got and considering the good discount other guests had availed, but the rooms were well maintained, clean, had amazing views and offered good comfort. The only suggestion would be to add a closet or a space to hang clothes, but other wise room aesthetics were soothing. Pls be sure to carry your own insect repellents and mini first aid, just in case. It's a bit of a walk to get to good food options ~ 15-20 ish mins but this property is just 1 block away from the beach and has a kitchen, which is nice! Overall, we stayed at 3 different places in El Cuyo and would say our stay at Casa Mia was positive!

We had a super cool time staying at Casa Mia in El Cuyo! The rooms are beautiful - simple but stylish and very comfortable. We had the suite which has a balcony with a 180 degree view over the beach, lagoon and village - very nice for an evening beer I must say! The beach is a very short walk away - like another reviewer said, we would just wander backwards and forwards barefoot during the day. The beach is wild and natural - definitely not the manicured and hourly raked kind of thing you get in a resort in Cancun, but if you like nature it's perfect. Our two year old daughter loved building sandcastles, watching the birds and swimming in the sea with us. My partner and I are both kiters, and we had a couple of days of great wind. One day in particular with a steady cross onshore wind 18kts all day, sunshine and some small waves to pop jumps off - can't beat it! We had some trouble with our kites and Marco (the owner of Casa Mia) went above and beyond trying to get us back on the water. El Cuyo has some great local restaurants - don't miss the seafood at La Negrita! All in all a great stay, one day we'll be back - perhaps when the little one needs a kite lesson ;) - thanks Marco and the rest of the Casa Mia gang.

Marco and Rolando were wonderful hosts. They took the time to offer recommendations for local dining and site seeing activities. The space we stayed in was very pleasant and quiet making for a very relaxing atmosphere. We were initially hesitant to book the room as the correspondence was all through WhatsApp, but rest assured everything was legitimate and exceeded expectations. Great value here and El Cuyo is a beautiful town.

Casa Mia, Marco and crew were awesome! The small town of El Cuyo and the people were amazing. It’s hard to find a place like this anymore. Casa Mia was great for us as a home base for kiteboarding and walking distance to everything. We are definitely coming back.

Our stay in Casa Mia was exceptional. We felt at home and part of the Casa. Marco is an amazing host who created and special place for his guests. Our room was super comfy and clean. The open area for guests offers an open kitchen and living room concept that guests share. It gives plenty of good opportunities for mutual conversation and home like comfort. Casa Mia is so close to the beach that you simply can go bare feet To it. For the adventures seekers Extreme Control has bunch of good offers including kite surfing under the careful eye of the master kiter Marco. 100% will be back there . Thumbs up! Patrycja and Filip

My group had an incredible stay at Casa Mía. The house is beautiful, clean and with lots of fresh air and gorgeous views. It has ample space for hanging out or different activities. Marco, Rolando and the kite surfing coaches were great. They are able to make great recommendations for tours, transport, dining, etc. We are so grateful for our time in El Cuyo and will be back at Casa Mía very soon. Thank you, Casa Mía!

We researched many accommodations in El Cuyo before finally choosing Casa Mia. So glad we did! This was the perfect place for our first trip to this beautiful town. It was very close to the beach (we wanted to kitesurf as much as possible), the staff were all very kind and helpful to answer questions, recommend restaurants, etc., and the overall vibe of the place was a good fit for us. If you are planning your first trip to El Cuyo, it may be helpful to know that Casa Mia is a 15-20 minute walk from the center of town. Fortunately, we received many recommendations for transportation, dining, and activities. If you have any questions, you can always ask the folks at Casa Mia they will help you out. The building itself has been beautifully crafted, and the decor is uniquely creative and artistic throughout. We were sad when we had to leave but hope that we will visit again soon. Many thanks to Marco, Rolando, and all the staff at Casa Mia for taking good care of us and treating us like family!!
