I have stayed at Casa Sandbar four times over the last three years since 2016. The first time, ten of my friends came along to celebrate my 60th birthday. We were amoungst Casa Sandbars' very first guests and felt totally thrilled with the whole place, the rooms, the staff and the town. | Zihuatanejo just keeps calling. Each of Casa Sandbars' suites have exceptionally well equipped kitchens. Not that you need to feel like cooking every day is a priority. There are literally dozens of fantastic restaurants all within walking distance if the mood is not to cook in your own suite. That said however, Zihua is a fishing town, and every day the local fresh catch is available in the Central Market. A spectacle in itself. A Tuna Loin big enough to feed 4 :: $10 CDN. A kilo of shelled, de-viened and butterflied shrimp, $10 CDN. Mahi Mahi (Dorado) same kind of thing. Who wouldn't want to cook this stuff up themselves? The Central Market is only a 15 minute walk down the hill and a 40 peso cab ride back. ($3) Then there is MEGA. It's a huge Superstore that you'll just have a ball in. A bit too far to walk to, it's only a 40 peso cab ride each direction. Here you can buy everything you can at home. Wine, beer, spirits, groceries, prescriptions, and it's a good place to hit the ATM for cash. Much cheaper than the downtown banks. There is so much choice when you stay at Casa Sandbar. Cook at home. Go out for great food in every style, all minutes away. Then of course, you have to choose between two beaches. Casa Sandbar is on a point separating La Ropa and Madera beaches. Both a 5-10 minute walk away and both spectacular for their own reasons. Both beaches are pure white sand that extends right out into the ocean with no rocks under your feet. Zihua is a Mexican town where a lot of Canadian and American expats and retirees have chosen to call home. Not at all like the "All Inclusive Tourist Destination" of Ixtapa, only 30 minutes away. Both served by the same airport. Casa Sandbar is owned and operated by a Canadian couple. Sandra & Barry, hence Sandbar. Casa Sandbar is their life long dream, come true. If you'd like to live a life of luxury for a week or two, in a facility second to none and in a town I am sure you will come to adore, look no further. I have been going to Zihuatanejo for about 30 years and worked there in the 80’s and 90’s and seen this lovely place going through many changes, some for the better and some not so much. But now for the last 10 years, it has been my little heaven for my winter vacations and I can’t wait to get there in February to recharge my batteries, get some sun on me and enjoy good food and drinks and the friendliness of the locals. I tend to stay in small, locally owned hotels but this time around I had the chance to enjoy a stay at a newly opened luxury condo complex right on the hill facing the bay, right above the water. It is located between La Madera and La Ropa and although it doesn’t have a beach of it’s own, it is so close to either beaches it is a non-issue. Also, they have a nice infinity pool and each of the 5 condos on the 6-storey building has their own Jacuzzi. The place is Canadian-owned and has a solid look and aside the great location, neat architecture, well furnished and so comfortable bed, one of the biggest selling point for me would be the fact this place has to be the most quiet rental I have ever experienced and I have been to literally hundreds of hotels, motels, condos and other rentals in my life. The walls are thick and you hear nothing from outside your place. One night I was there they had a wedding party and they had a good time with a good crowd. They were in the condo right next to me and this place is not very big and I heard nothing from them. I found it amazing and if you are there to recharge the batteries and need some good rest, it sure is the place. You will find a good size kitchen with all amenities you need and expect in a luxury property. It’s an open style so it opens from the kitchen to the diningroom and livingroom, all open air. You have a great view of the bay and a nice breeze from the ocean. The bedroom has plenty of storage and you have the choice of a ceiling fan and/or air conditioning. The bed was the most comfortable I have yet to see in Zihuatanejo. Nice linen too. You enter the bedroom through a closed door so you can rest in the room and it will be all quiet even if other members of your party are in the livingroom or elsewhere in the condo. From the bedroom you have access to the jacuzzi on your balcony. Perfect spot to enjoy the scenery in the evening and cool off. A couple of lounge chairs are also supplied to relax next to the Jacuzzi. From the bedroom you have access to the bathroom and you can tell the owners have done their research. It is simply beautiful, with a large rainshower and great design overall. The place is very clean and the staff is not intrusive but very attentive to details and your needs. A great caretaker and maid are there to take care of you. When I arrived, there was a basket of fruits and fresh flowers awaiting and it sure is a nice touch. If you want to spoil yourself, this would be a great choice for your stay in Zihua. Make sure to check them out…

Brilliant place to stay run by very nice people. Will absolutely stay again. Beautiful suites and comfortable beds with air conditioning. Every suite has a cooling pool with a view -- be sure to book one with an infinity pool. Only complaint is that WiFi is slow.

Barry and Sandy welcomed us with a lovely condo perched over the bay after an unfortunate mis-step at another rental. They were kind and welcoming. We were fortunate to find this clean and well run respite Christmas Eve! Recommended!!
