Cenote Freediving - 77760 Tulum

I had a great experience with Matt, Kiki and Fernanda at Cenote Freediving! First I went for a day of training at Kaan Luum Lagoon. I hadn't been diving in several months, but Matt's instruction helped me get right back into it. This was a great introduction into cenote diving. I also did a Wave 1 conversion course with Fernanda, including diving at Cenote Angelita. Be sure to check out images of this cenote because it's incredible! With coaching from Matt and Fernanda, I completely changed my pre-dive routine. They helped me relax much more, resulting in effortless dives and a new personal best. Over the course of my time in Tulum, Matt and Fernanda helped me (and other divers) with stretching, relaxation, finning technique, equalization, and many other aspects of freediving. I would strongly recommend Cenote Freediving to help you improve, regardless of your level. It is worth mentioning how amazing it is to dive in these Cenotes. You are plunging into another world---an entirely different experience than diving in open water. It's a truly unique experience. I should also mention that Cenote Freediving has great equipment available to rent. For my dive I used a 2.5 MM Molchanovs wetsuit and Molchanovs silicone fins (these will make you question long fins!). All of the equipment was brand new and in perfect condition. Matt and the other Cenote Freediving staff were knowledgeable about all the gear. Having the right equipment makes an amazing dive just that much better. Thanks Matt, Fernanda and Kiki. If you want to learn Freediving this is the place. Matthieu is a great instructor that knows everything about Freediving through his own experiences. He knows how to adjust the courses individually to all levels. He is super friendly and will do everything to make your Freediving experience the best. The locations you will visit during your course or training with Matt is mind blowing and something you can’t find anywhere else!

The instructor, Matthieu deserves more than 5 stars. What an authentic human being! He is patient, has great energy and is passionate about teaching one about freediving. For me safety comes first and I always felt he was watching out for me. He gives you tips on how to be a better freediver according to “your” level. I took the Wave 1 course with him plus booked a photography session. The photos came out epic! Even at my level capabilities, the photos make me look like a pro. I can’t even believe that he freedives when he takes the photos. Before I booked the photography sessions, I thought he scuba dived in order to take the epic shots he captures. Therefore I have a whole new respect for his photography skills. Plus I now have fab photos to remind myself and others, that even at 41 years old, one can still level up and step out from their comfort zones. If you are looking for great memories, a mindful experience, a challenge, freediving in beautiful cenotes in or just learn a new sport, you definitely need to experience Cenote Freediving! It’s totally ? worth it!

I did my Wave 1 course with Fernanda. She is an amazing instructor and I feel have learned and practiced so much during the 3 days course, whether it is theory, static, dynamic in the pool, depths or rescue. She was very attentive to safety protocols, including teaching me how to make safety a habit for myself and others from the beginning, so the course felt totally safe even for a complete beginner like me. An other great thing is that she filmed some of the dives and we would review the footage later, it was a great help to see my mistakes and correct them. The equipment was also top-notch. Looking forward to the next time i got a chance to train at Cenote Freediving.

Matthieu is a great instructor (and an incredible diver himself). I had trouble equalising during my course and he was very patient with me. Unfortunately we had to cut the course early because of the issues, which was really disappointing, but I got some amazing photographs which made up for it. I would definitely recommend for divers of all abilities looking to improve their skills.

I spent the last days of my trip around Yucatan with Cenote Freediving and this was for sure the best time. Fer is a wonderful teacher and I felt totally safe when in the water. Matt and Kiki welcomed me in their little home as if I was part of their family. I passed the Wave 1 course and I have gone beyond my limits, of which I am super proud of. I will definitely continue freediving and I am highly motivated to look for other members of the Molchanovs movement in my hometown. I hope I can return one day, because diving in the Cenotes is next level in any case.

I had a great experience with Cenote Freediving. I was trained by Matt who is very knowledgeable about freediving. He is a true professional and customizes the experience for each student. He made sure that the process was as safe as possible and goes into great detail to make sure all the concepts behind freediving are fully understood. I took Wave1 course and Matt explained theory clearly and used digital 3D anatomical model that enhanced my learning of the Frenzel equalization techniques. He provided new top-of-the-line gear and equipment that are well maintained. He discussed and exhibited safety measures throughout the course and is keenly observant on my every dive. Not only is Matt a highly accomplished competitive freediver, but he is also an impressive photographer. He can work with a beginner diver and use shooting techniques to take stunning images with light beams underwater.
