This place has been closed for several months due to Covid. When it’s open it has a marvelous patio where you can hang out, and there’s usually a cafe in one corner. Almost every time I come to SMA (about once a year) it seems that the cafe has changed owners again, but who cares! You’re here for the gorgeous Colonial architecture and amazing patio with giant bamboos, old tress, and did I mention a superb mural in a crypt-like cavernous room? Can’t wait till it opens again- one of my ATF spots on this planet ??

I came here to SMA for several weeks way back in 2001 and this was one of my fave hangout spots. Back then I used to go to a little café inside the courtyard there and practice my guitar, inspired by the scenery. Haven't been back since, but boy, I wish I could just up and leave and make my way back out there.

There is a wonderful courtyard with views on the church and bell tower. There are a lot of gorgeous murals. Place is a quiet retreat from busy streets.

Amazing places to visit and to take a coffee! I think this was one of my favorites places across the town. Free pass and sometimes they offer 10 minute tour telling you the history of the place so I recommend to take it. Go early also to enjoy the place with less people possible ?

If you are just wandering around and there isn’t much to do this is the perfect place yo just take it slow under the shade, appreciate murals and maybe even witness a performance of some sort. There is a new coffee shop inside as well with very affordable prices and some of the nicest servers around. It is a perfect stop if you just need a break. Years ago I was here for a Spanish Guitar concert and it was packed, so I am glad I got to come back for its relaxed and freer times, if nothing for it amazing architectural beauty and the views of the domes from the terrace. I recommend.
