You know that thing that makes you - YOU? For us, that is surf. Our life circles around surfing! So what job is greater than the one when you get to spread your passion? We enjoy having all kinds of people coming to our school and engaging them in our lifestyle, whether it’s for one day or for something that is going to become (or already is) a part of their life too.
We are a small school that’s been around for quite some time now. Our location down at beautiful Playa Carrizalillo is a great spot for beginners as well as more advanced surfers. What down, you say? That’s 143 steps down the stairs to reach the beach inside the bay. We don’t mind walking up those stairs once a day, but let’s say we are happy not carrying our boards with us…
Our instructors are local surfers that all basically grew up in the water. That does not only mean they really know how to surf and will teach you well, it also means they know how to keep you safe in the water. Surfing might look secure and simple, but the ocean is NEVER a safe place and therefore extra important as a beginner to have someone experienced with you who knows how to handle the water.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed in Puerto for one month and my goal was to surf in Carri everyday while there. I checked with a few places and Chenek definitely has the best options. As a beginner I know the feeling of damaging a board too well -therefore, buying one and walking down the stairs wasn’t something I was interested in. They offer weekly prices which is the best option in case Carri becomes too dangerous to surf. You can come in any time and stay out as long as you want. Towards the end these folks felt like family. I can’t wait to come back.

Ones I saw the owner of Chenek school Julio in water on his board - I realized that I found my teacher. He is the best. His relationship with the ocean is amazing! He gave me a lot just with one lesson - I realized all my weak points. He gave me good exercises how to build perfect muscles. How to manage everything in big waves. I’m so happy with him! Great teacher. Highly recommended

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tried to surf at this beach and all of the instructors would not let me catch a wave they were super territorial and rude so keep that in mind. Good for lessons since they will cut you to the front of the wave ahead of everyone however ;)

One of us didn't believe he could surf (in the previous school they gave him a wrong board and taught wrong techniques which made him think he is not fit enough). Here he did surf in the first class ;) highly recommended.

The boards were of very good brands and perfect condition. I was able to switch the board depending on the condition of the waves and my curiosity to try a smaller board. I got a discount for renting it for longer time. The surf instructors always gave me advices and were very helpful and friendly. Can highly recommend to take classes and renting there!!
