The Mayan temples here are preserved extremely well and are a must visit when you are in Mexico. The history and the architecture are fascinating and the fact that they were built so well is incredible. Make sure to have at least 1.5 hours to cover everything and more to do it at a leisurely pace.

An amazing place full of history. There are a lot of vendors around the perimeter of the archaeological site. They have many beautiful souvenirs so you can remember your visit there. I recommend a tour guide in case this is your first time.

Truly amazing. One of the 7 New Wonders of the World ? So, to gain access you can pay $571 Pecos or $400 using a credit card and $87 Pecos in cash. Get ready for the street vendors from the time you arrive until you leave. They sell the same things so if you plan to buy be patient you'll see the same thing and depending on your negotiating skills you might knock off $20 more. Just say no if you don't want to buy. The area is well maintained. We didn't use a tour guide. Trust me there's over 50 tour guides at the entrance. The drive from Cancun to Chichén Itza is about 2hrs 30 minutes. There's two tolls and you pay $327 Pecos and $100 Pecos. I recommend the toll road as it cuts 45 minutes from the drive and the road is well paved. There's a lot of construction so get ready for stops and trucks jumping onto the road. We make the round trip with a full tank of gas.

Visit was part of my package tour from Cancun. If you are going from Cancun, keep in mind that place is over 3 hours away and trip will be approx 12 hours. Talking about the place, archeological and cultural significance and marvel, 5 star. Loved learning about how it was built and what it represented. Now let's talk about less interesting parts. Extreme commercialization, vendors constantly trying to get you to buy things every single minute. Everything is priced up to match with American tourists, story telling by guide regarding the history is quite dramatized and heard several versions and stories from different guides. Also as part of package tours, they want to make sure you spend more time buying then enjoying prime attraction. My 12 hour tour allowed me to spend less then 2hours at the place and guide rushed from one place to another so I can be put back into bus to be at a place where I can be pressurized to buy something. I would recommend to get there early before it gets hot, spend more time so you can take break and enjoy each part of the complex. If I would have had that option, I would have given 5 stars.

These were the most amazing people we took this tour through carnival my goodness it was so awesome the only problem we had was the drive was so long but the tour guides were amazing they made you feel at home... Do not get caught up with the people selling in the market we were almost left because of that.

One of the biggest city of the Mayan this place is one of the best historical landmarks to see in Mexico. There is a special sound you can hear from the pyramid if you clap your hand standing at the bottom. It’s very mystical and wonderful to experience the culture of the ancient Mayans.

The experience was amazing, the place is beautiful and so big, wear some comfy snickers for your visit, don’t forget to bring your own bottle of water, inside you can buy something to drink but is too expensive. Bring a hat and sunscreen as is too sunny. I loved the place but I couldn’t enjoy 100% as there are too many sellers on the side of the road and inside the archaeological zone as well.

You have to go with a tour guide to really appreciate the history of this place. It’s one of the new wonders of the world and it’s definitely worth a visit. The natural sound system was amazing, plus the tour guide gives you the reason why it’s considered to be a wonder of the world and it’s just awesome! Lots of vendors but we were in a tour group so it’s easier not to get distracted by them. Hats/umbrellas are recommended, thankfully the tour provided umbrellas. The structures are related to each other and we learned a lot about the history of this place. Highly recommended!
