★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We arrived to an hour long sales pitch, delay scheme despite the every thing being prepaid and arranged online. We selected the highest insurance available and even asked to make sure that included everything before booking online. Then AFTER the hour long wait in store and paying we were told we would have to pay additionally if we wanted the tires or windshield to be covered.
It was extremely frustrating.
When we returned the car we had to wait another 45 minutes to receive our deposit back. Plan to leave A LOT of extra time if you don’t want to be stressed.
The taxi drivers are nice. The front desk people seem to be working a very annoying system.
The windshield also had a sun block thing that made it very hard to see.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a great experience with City Car Rental. Worried about the poor reviews of other rental agencies, we chose these guys because of their reviews and we're glad we did.
We didn't get the exact car we booked but we got a comparable car, newer model, low mileage, no mechanical issues, well maintained. I liked that it didn't have have a big sticker with a rental car agency on it to avoid being a target.
We didn't take the extra insurance above and beyond the mandatory liability insurance and didn't feel pressure from them to do so.
And we were shuttled the airport promptly despite not being in any rush.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Avoid Hertz, Alamo, Budget. This is the place to rent your car when in Mexico. Guillermo was very flexible with me when it came to my deposit. My credit card was acting up for some odd reason? This is the 3rd time I rent a car with this company in MX. This is actually new location. Their cars are always in good condition with good AC and very affordable. Deposit is $250 dollars and car rental was around $35 per day for an automatic Nissan March 4 door hatchback.

I googled in the states .... Went to their site. There help chat popped up. I was able to speak to someone instantly online. They clarified everything for me . Made it easy to choose the car I needed.
When I landed in Cancun they had a shuttle driver waiting to get the car. Seriously..... The process was so easy and the car was very reliable. I can't recommend this place enough for renting a car while traveling this beautiful area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Without a doubt, this is the BEST car rental company in Cancun. They have great prices. All required insurance is included and they offer additional insurance, but they do not pressure you into it. Reserve online directly through their site. They take a small deposit, this guarantees you have a car when you get there. They placed a $300 security deposit on my card which was released when we returned. They do a very thorough walk-through when you pick it up and they encourage you to take as many pictures as you want. This is a clean, professional and FAIR car rental company. I wouldn't consider renting anywhere else.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Staff at city car rental were very professional, price of the rental was one of the best prices around. Vehicle was extremely clean, staff went over added insurance options with no hassle. Checkout process was extremely quick and effortless. Second time using them over the last year and will continue to use. Cesar Vasquez did a great job go check out. My biggest recommendation would be to have them add more fuel before departures, However I understand the issue with customers leaving them with empty tanks.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had an excellent experience with City Car Rental. I was a bit apprehensive about renting a car in Cancun after reading all the horror reviews, but I had a great experience. The free shuttle from the airport is efficient and you barely have to wait. We rented an economy car for 19 days with full coverage. The service desk workers were courteous and helpful. They did first offer a car with a star crack in the window, but we simply asked for another one and they immediately obliged. We got a car in great shape. We returned the car and they didn't try any funny business regarding damage. In short, great customer service, everything went smoothly and quickly.
