Gorgeous sunsets, right on the beach, Lupita's is still serving amazing food but the villa is so outdated & needs a bunch of TLC. This is my 2nd visit in 2 years & nothing has changed. The jacuzzi still isn't heated, the villa is still in need of an upgrade & Luis, the "manager" is still running this place. Fabulous staff, friendly & welcoming. The best description is "it's rustic" definitely not fancy or upscale

Needs some upgrading but we made it home sweet home for 7 days . The bed was hard. Overall I enjoyed my stay at El Rancho and food is great and the amazing view of the sunset on the beach. I'll be back Mazatlan?

Beach front. Great staff. Roomy two story townhouses. The facility is aging but functional. Pool is salt water from ocean. Kitchens reasonably appointed. Restaurant is good and accommodating. They cooked up our fresh caught Marlin 4 different ways and it was excellent. Will return. Thanks Luis, "Chewie" and Winston.

This review is intended to help others with kids and/or a family as the pictures of this resort did not show us this: the master bedroom has only 1 full wall, the other two 3 walls are either open to the rest of the villa (literally open) or are full of closets. The master bedroom opens up to the living room below it and the staircase adjacent to it. This means that kids can climb the wall, which is only about 3 feet high, and literally fall down to the first floor. All the doors inside the villa are plantation shutters which means you have no privacy in your room and I could hear someone pass gas on the 2nd floor bathroom from the kitchen downstairs (or well anywhere downstairs really). That was pretty awkward when staying with family members. My husband and I had no privacy that week whatsoever, and 0 romance because of it. There's also no railing on the staircase meaning our 2 year old could not climb the stairs unattended, and thanks to the bedrooms that lacked proper walls we were constantly on edge and worried that he would fall down to the first floor. He never fell because we watched him 24/7, but we didn't sleep well or relax because we were in constant fear that he would hurt himself. I wish someone else had mentioned this in their review as we would have stayed elsewhere to avoid this problem. However, the location was awesome, the pool was perfect, the staff were wonderful, and the beach was so beautiful and close. It's really too bad we weren't able to enjoy our room but the location and service were nice. I would recommend this to either single people who don't need privacy or a couple, not a family with kids or a couple vacationing with other people. I believe if my husband and I had gone alone we would have enjoyed our stay so much more and would have given it 5 stars.

it is unacceptable in 2022 they do not have a good wifi service, and the solution they give is “you can work from here in the reception”

Never stayed here, but the bar accessed from the beach serves good drinks, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

This resort is comfortable & cozy. I'm enjoying a peaceful & quiet stay. Staff is friendly & helpful. It is not a marble and crystal resort. This is a great place to get back to the basics and live humbly. It allows immersion into local culture.
