Our tour guide Chuy was very friendly and knowledgeable. Be prepared for physical activity (cycling to the ruins, but climbing is optional). If you get too hot, the guides provide bottled water. After visiting the ruins you may choose to go on the Mayan village tour or do the zip line and cenote swim (bring swim wear). I chose the Mayan village tour which was very educational and hands on. A buffet dinner was also included. I would highly recommend this tour!

We took their Chichen Itza tour and we're disappointed with everything. The bus was not comfortable and they were very late bringing us back. I would recommend not using this company.

The Tulum - Coba tour was great! Highly recommended for anyone looking for an intimate tour experience. Unlike some groups I saw, which seemed to number close to 100, my group consisted of myself and four others. The guide was friendly and extremely knowledgeable.

This started off well, but oh boy did it leave a bad taste in my mouth. I guess I haven't been on enough tours, because my boyfriend said he's had this often, but that he still would have expected better from a tour that was sold out of the resort we were at. The Chichen Itza info was good. That's where it ends for me. They dropped us in a "Mayan village" where they guilted us into buying souvenirs - probably the same ones you could buy at Chichen Itza or at the gift shops in Playa Del Carmen. At least, they looked identical, other than the price. The people at the shop followed us around closely, harassing us about buying things, so that was fun. We came back to this same spot for our included lunch, where they pushed tip jar after tip jar on us. Coba Sunset clearly has an arrangement with this. Our guide talked all day about government corruption. Was he talking about himself? After lunch we went to the cenote and Valladolid. I had no complaints about either of these, but maybe because no one was pushing propaganda on me the whole time I was there. As other people mentioned, they tried selling us liquor and other things, like the horoscopes ON the bus! Just wandered around trying to sell us stuff. It made my head spin, trying not to constantly have stuff sold to me. I guess I inadvertently bought an ad? Why! A time share would have been more fun! Finally, we got off the bus 14 hours after our pickup, but before we did they guilted us further about tipping them, saying how they don't get paid by the tour, only our tips. I get it, tipping culture is intense, but come on! I spent $120USD on this, and you've harassed me for money for everyone all day. Obviously this review won't help foolish people like me who buy directly from the hotel, just assuming it's a trusted tour, but if you're considering a tour with these people don't do it! It's not worth your time and money. I'm glad I saw Chichen Itza with a guide, but I wish I had bought one there. Paying for a taxi all day would have been more enjoyable than constantly being asked to hand over my money. The only place someone DIDN'T ask me for a tip was the washroom, and funnily enough that's the only place I wanted to give one.

Chetcenitsu Mayan Ruins I hope you get Ylysses as a tour guide! He was AMAZING! We enjoyed the history lesson and Mayan culture lesson as much as touring the ruins. Thank Ylysses!! Our family loved it! it made our trip!

We rented a taxi and went to coba. There was just a lot of rain that just came through, so the lot was a lot of water in the parking lot. We got there really early, so there were not many people inside. There were people that are able to guide you, and others that will give you a ride or you can rent a bike. It was a bit rainy and we brought ponchos, so we just walked around. The mosquitoes were bad, we wish we brought bug spray. Our cab driver waited for us, which is good I don’t know how we would have gotten back to the hotel otherwise.

We paid $139 USD. It was the worst excursion I have done in another country. We were not informed we needed masks nor were we offered any. We were not informed we would have to pay an additional entrance fee. CASH only. They charge quite a bit more to convert currency. Our guide Juan Carlos told us we could pay to rent bikes- although this was suppose to be included. We were left alone in the ruins area without our guide. He sat in the forest talking on his phone, later was in the restaurant eating. He strongly encourages us to spend money at all the stops HE stopped us at. The trip was unorganized, he was unprofessional, and I could have done this for half the cost on a private tour. The sunset dinner is definitely overrated. We spent a good 3 hours of the time picking up other people and dropping them off. Lunch was not included, a dinner worth $10USD was included. Buffet. This is the worst tour guide I have yet to experience. I will never schedule with Coba Sunset tours again.

Our group did the Chichén Itzá tour. TL;DR I would not recommend. This is a tourist trap. The day starts with pickup at 7:45 AM. They are on time, which was appreciated. A taxi will take you to the main tour bus. The tour guides give some Mayan history on the first ride, it’s a nice touch, but it leads into a sales pitch to buy a Mayan birth calendar. It is a 2-hour trip to the first stop, which is the “Mayan cultural center”…. It’s a gift shop. Extremely poor taste stopping at a gift shop before seeing Chichén Itzá. I was certainly not going to buy anything before even seeing Chichén Itzá. The stop there is over an hour just trying to sell you products. The next stop is Chichén Itzá. It’s only a 2-hour stop. Certainly not enough time to see the whole site. It’s a guided tour and the tour guide was very animated, but they do not provide enough time on the site to actually see the sites and be on a slowly guided tour. Chichén Itzá is beautiful and was the best part of this experience. After the short 2 hours, it’s lunch time. The bus ride back is when you get your “free drink”, which is a shot of overpriced weak liquor they’re trying to sell you. The “restaurant” is at the gift shop. They could have made this one stop and gave more time at Chichén Itzá, but like I said this is a tourist trap for your money. For the food, DO NOT EAT IT! 3/4 people in my group were sick after our trip when this was the only full meal we had that day. No drink is included, not even the complimentary water. The “restaurant” is visibly dirty, the food is mediocre, and it is not safe for COVID. It’s a self serve buffet. This leads me into my next point, this trip is not safe for COVID. While the tour guide did bring up halfway through our trip to keep your mask on, it was not enforced at all on the bus. It was not safe and many passengers were not wearing their mask. They lied when they stated this would be enforced. If I knew this would occur, I would have never booked at all. After lunch was the trip to the cenote. This stop was only an hour. So 8 hours into our trip we’ve only had 3 hours of actual activities. The cenote was small and crowded with other tours they conduct. It was enjoyable, but was only an hour of swimming and waiting on line to jump in. The final stop is a town in Yucatán state. It’s only a 20 minute stop to buy something from street vendors. After this it’s the 2-hour drive back to Quintana Roo. If you made it through this whole review, this is what is to be expected from the 12-hour day. 3.3 hours of activities and 8.7 hours of travel and sales pitches. Personally, not for me at all and I wish I just found a private way to get to Chichén Itzá. Not worth the time or money. If you like a guided tour and constantly being asked to buy products, this trip is for you.
