★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I highly recommend El Camino, English is my first language and I have attended 2 sessions of Espanol for Beginners. the classes are small and geared towards your level or lack of level of comprehension as in my case, The teachers are very affable , attentive, and patient.
Me gusta El Camino ! es The Way aprender ;)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I strongly recommend it. I'm taking spanish class in a small group that gives more attention of a teacher for each student. Furthemore every class combines speaking and listening with some fun game that makes you focused and time flies by. There are 2 cute cats and dogs which makes the place even more loveable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First, I would like to say what I liked about the school. I am a fan of small businesses and make my living helping small businesses grow and be successful. Stephane (the man who owns the school) promised me that the classrooms were air conditioned and he was completely honest about this. I saw 2 classrooms and they both have a real, good quality air conditioner. In Latin America some places say air conditioned, and it is a fan..just moving hot air around. Tulum is hot and humid and there are a ton of mosquitos that are literally out for blood. I had planned on almost 6 weeks of spanish lessons, 3 hours a day. I made sure that I told Stephane in an email B1 level was what I wanted. I arrived the first day, no one was there and I sat outside being eaten alive by the bugs for 20 minutes until Jenny the teacher arrived in a cab. She had to wait for the owner to arrive with the key. The place was extremely hot and it took time for it to cool down with the A/C. Although I had told the school I wanted B1 - Jenny started out with A1. There is no placement test and a lot of time is wasted since as Jenny told me "I have no idea what level you are". I explained to her B1 and showed her the email that I I had written saying B!. She then complained that there was no placement test. given by the school. I was paying to learn spanish...I really do not want to hear her complaints that she has about her job. So it went for 7 days. I tried to give Jenny a chance, I know that she needs the job and money and I wanted to help a small business by giving them my business.. But it became clear that I was wasting my time and money. The classes are about 14 US dollars an hour and from my condo and back I paid $10 in cabs; each day. There are no ubers in Tulum and it is way too buggy, hot and humid to ride a bike...plus the roads are not safe. The school itself is located on a sketchy looking street. There is nothing close by except a "store" that is nothing more than a few bags of chips run by a 12 year old girl. I decided to stop the lessons because I was not learning anything, wasting time and money. After I stopped going to El Camino, I spoke with a spanish instructor who recommended a program called Sprint and SuperSpring thru Lingola. Classes are by zoom and if you complete the program, your money is reimbursed. I can do it from the comfort of my own home, or airbb in this case since I am in Tulum. They give a placement test and I tested C1 - advanced level. At this level, I was paying for Jenny to teach me numbers, dates and how to change the names of other countries to how they are pronounced in Spanish. Not useful at all but more than that...not what I had paid for. I was very clear about the level I wanted to learn. So..if you plan to go here, I wish you luck. For me it was a bad experience. If you are a COMPLETE beginner..maybe. But..why? There is no "experience" here..as I said the area surrounding the school is a street of poverty, men who yell inappropriate things at women, and sketchy people. I did not feel safe outside and stayed in the classroom on breaks. Stephane, I wish you would have listened to me. If a business takes money for a promised service..and then does not deliver you end up with bad reviews.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I came to Tulum for a vocation. I have enough time to do a 6-week expat course. Couldn't be happy about the school. We have 5 people in the group. All beginners. I'm able to make small conversation here and there. And I'm very motivated to continue learning Spanish.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ To further improve my Spanish I took contacted El Camino for private lessons. The communications was quick and clear and all was set up before I arrived.
I was very happy with my teacher Alejandra. She tested my level of Spanish and set out a course for me to work on. We both used direct communication which worked well. Flexible people, good facilities and learned a lot! I even came back to Tulum to have more days of classes.
