Fantastic! We spent over two weeks going to yoga and getting spa treatments at esencia. We pretty much sampled every type of massage and yoga class between my girlfriend and I. Melinda, Jenni, Vanessa, Ericka were all great and every time we were treated extremely well. The space is beautiful and you can tell they put a lot of effort into their yoga classes and massages offering incredibly high quality options compared to the other spas and yoga classes we tried in San Miguel. Thanks again guys and we look forward to seeing you again next time we’re in town!

The owner is not well liked among local expats, and has a very bad reputation in San Miguel de Allende. She enjoys talking behind the students, and teachers backs, and is an all around negative energy.

My friend and I wanted to do something relaxing on our last day in San Miguel so we decided to check out Esencia Yoga Spa. I’m so glad we did! They have a great variety of treatments available. Since we waited until the last minute on the last day of our trip, there wasn’t time do all the treatments we wanted to do, but the staff was able to squeeze us in for foot reflexology appointments. After 5 days of walking on cobblestone, it was just what we needed. I’m vegan and was pleased to know that they use plant-based massage oil and essential oil for the reflexology (for other services I’m not sure, so make sure to ask if you’re vegan). The staff is really friendly and professional, and the facilities are inviting and peaceful. The owner was lovely to talk to and knows a lot about San Miguel and its history. I definitely recommend this place!

After walking for several days on cobblestones and uneven curbs my back was sore. One hour deep tissue massage with Vanessa was heaven. Recommend highly.

I was in San Miguel for about a month and ended up going here several times a week. Fernanda is one of the finest yoga instructors I've encountered in the 13 years I've been practicing. She is bilingual (trilingual if you count Sanskrit), knows her forms, how to encourage, promote correct form, and correct habits that will impede progress. She can push those who want to push, while concurrently catering to those who need more restorative forms. She is perfect. I give HER 5 Stars. We will be seeking her out again next year when we are passing through. Sophia is also an excellent instructor. Recommended. Esencia Yoga Spa as a business gets 3 stars. I afford them this because what we encountered was largely a high pressure sales pitch from two elderly white women who we took to be an owner and an instructor. Neither of them wielded energy that I found comforting. I found the "owner" to be disingenuous, and the older instructor seemed bored with her classes, and was somewhat condescending to everyone. Yuck. The rest of the staff seemed nice though. And Fernanda is the bomb. It's worth a visit just for her.

I love this studio! Started taking classes here about 3 weeks ago. I took the grow and flow classes, a trapeze class, and a workshop working on back flexibility & overall strength. My time at the studio gave me community for my time in San Miguel and a place to reconnect with myself and my body. The 3 instructors that I had, Melinda, Akila, & Desiree, were all amazing & taught in their own unique ways. I really feel like a learned a lot and am now inspired to continue learning and growing with yoga. Front desk staff is also very kind and welcoming! Thanks Esencia!

Beware! Massage Therapist is the cleaning lady who has a second grade education, and can't even read or write! Quality is NOT the same as in the United States where to be a licensed massage therapist you need a minimum of one year full time training six days a week nine to five. Here the only requirement is a 6 week course going twice a week for two hours! Yet, the owner is charging United States prices! If your idea of the cleaning lady doing your massage is your idea of luxury be my guest. If you are looking for quality, and professionalism, stay away from this place and avoid injury. Spend your cash somewhere nicer.
