Honestly do yourself a favor and never book with Europcar. You need a basic insurance. Your credit card might cover it, however, unless you request a specific letter with all the information that they require in their fine print they make you pay for it. The insurance in store will be much more expensive as you most likely booked through kayak or Expedia. For some bizarre reason the price for insurance ends up being exactly the same as what you paid for the car. Wonder why?

Prices a bit higher than some low cost rentals but way better service. I booked 5 cars from this place and if you use the MEXICAN website, the price you see is the price you pay. They never tried to scam me nor lie to me. I live here so maybe it does help. My advice is to always use the Mexican website and book the car there. Mexican law says that you must have the TLP insurance. So if you do not book it on the website (the American or European one - the Mexican one already has it per default), they will charge it to you at the front desk before taking your car and then it might be a bit more (or a lot more) expensive. All in all, I have only had good experiences with Europcar Reforma.

WARNING: scam on insurance and asking for deposit! wish I can give minus 5 stars! It’s a scam renting car here: asking for the insurance with unknown insurance company. Asking for deposit which I never been asking before ?

Unreasonable insurance waiver requirements compared to other rental car companies. Rental requires either paying US$80 per day for their insurance, or you must present a letter from some Mexican government agency (requires an appointment), a liability waiver from your credit card (easy to obtain), and provide a deposit equal to the price of the car. I have rented cars in México many times before, I have never been asked for a letter from a government agency or such an exorbitant deposit to decline their expensive insurance. I strongly suggest renting from a different company.

we were a bit worried about renting car in Mexico, because of all reviews through different rental companies we've read. Finally we chose europcar (probably because usually this is our first choice in Europe) and it all went very well. We've got new car in perfect condition, we rented with basic insurance, because we have insurance by our credit card (so we were informed that in case of accident we gonna pay to the europcar the damage and later we can ask for money from our bank), but there were no pressure on purchasing anything extra, no extra documents required, they freezed 1500eur deposit on our account which was reasonable amount (our rental were paid in advance online). Guys at Reforma office were very nice and professional (special thanks to Joel Contreras for helping us through all our rental period). We rented car for a month (and later we extended for another month, which was a bit complicated, but finally everything worked out fine). We never had any mechanical issues with the car, even though we were using car for two months, 7000km in very different weather and road conditions. Dropping off car was very simple, as it is in Europe - they checked fuel, spare tire, if there's no visible damage outside and that's it - it took 5 minutes. We've got our deposit back right away. We were very happy and definitely will choose this company again on our next trip to Mexico. Thank you!

We were extremely lucky to bump into Caroline Streich at the airport of Cancun. She arranged a car for us, very fast service and gave us her number which really turned out to be our biggest help. When we decided to turn in the car In Mexico-city, she did everything she could to help us to get a (more) decent pick-up fee. Thank you so much Caroline you gave us a very positive Europcar experience. When our car broke down we received a new one the next day. (The telephone service was slow though and we needed a Mexican phone number to be able to be contacted, which is something for Europcar to take into consideration to change and smoothen) Then we had to turn in the car at Mexico City and the manager Josue Rosales helped us to return the car perfectly and was the most kindest and attentive manager the clients of Europcar could wish for. We read horrible reviews, but for us, thanks to people like Caroline and Josue, we can only leave an excellent one. Thank you!

Was a Great experience, the car was in good condition, the communication in English was friendly and well. Nobody tried to persuade us to get more insurance or something and we could easily change the time to bring back the car. Will come again

This is the second time I have rented a car with this branch and the service is Amazing! They are super quick with the check in process, they offer you all the additional protection but are not pushy if you decline them this is very rare in all the other rental companies in the area.
