Pico de Orizaba is an incredible high altitude climb that is easily accessible from Mexico City – a bucket list must do! I can’t begin to recommend Servimont highly enough as a guiding company – hands down they are by far the BEST guiding company you could work with. I’m the type of individual who researches everything exhaustively and trust me when I say, If you’re planning on undertaking this climb – contact Servimont. They will exceed your expectations. I've used numerous guiding companies for climbs around the world and the service and professionalism they provide was truly top notch. They treat you like family. It’d be a HUGE mistake to book with a US/European etc based company. Servimont is part of the mountain’s history and you’d be doing yourself a disservice not partnering with them. I worked with Lizabeth to book my climb and unfortunately was on an extremely tight schedule as I was visiting Mexico City for a work trip. Lizbeth went above and beyond to create a customized itinerary for me and the entire process from start to finish was absolutely flawless. I’m definitely a challenging client with a very high bar and require detailed information regarding every aspect of the program and like to consider every option available - Lizbeth accommodating me every step of the way which is a testimony to their high degree of customer service, knowledge, expertise and professionalism. I couldn’t have asked for anything more - simply wonderful. Servimont arranged for private transport to pick me up from the office in Mexico City and in no time I was at their lodge. The vehicle and driver were terrific - the driver also was so kind and accommodating as I needed to make a few stops along the way to the bank, supermarket, etc. You could tell that customer service was his #1 priority. I absolutely LOVED the Servimont lodge where climbers stay the night before the climb. It’s steeped in history and this is when you truly realize how deeply rooted the Reyes family is in the community and the mountain. There’s a small museum and you can see incredible black and white photos of the generations of the Reyes family that have embraced Pico – it was an inspiration for me and only fueled my excitement for the climb. The hospitality of Dr Reyes and his staff is truly unparalleled – their warmth and kindness was touching and something I will always cherish. I spoke with Dr Reyes before my trip and he mentioned that he collected postcards from around the world, so I made sure to bring one from San Francisco. I often think of the bulletin board where it now resides and it always brings a smile to my face. Once you meet Dr Reyes you will understand – he has a smile that will warm your heart. He’s an individual that you will always feel lucky that you had the chance to meet. The staff ranging from the cook, guides, lodge staff were all simply amazing as well. The accommodations were homey and perfect. I loved that their facility (converted soap factor!) is so rich in history – such a unique experience – it’s over a century old and everything ranging from the paintings to décor all have deep meaning. The meals were delicious and everything homemade from scratch with a lot coming from their own lovely garden! You feel like you’re being welcomed into someone’s home and they do everything they can to make it a once in a lifetime experience. My guide was terrific and I’m so grateful for his expertise. He knew exactly what pace I needed the entire time. It was amazing knowing I was in such capable hands and his warm smile kept me going even when times got tough. I will always hold a special place in my heart for both Pico and Servimont!
