Thanks for pointing out the Merida mile marker by the Cathedral, the Spanish conquistadors with the Mayans, and finishing off with the museum of contemporary art. Many thanks for your recommendations. We had lunch at The Pita and boy was it good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was a good experience. I took the evening tour which was a lot cooler than the daytime tour I'm sure. The guide seemed knowledgeable about a lot of local things but some of the things he said about the leaders and politics don't seem to coincide with what I have read about the history. Not sure if he was putting his own spin or interpretation on things or if the history you read online is wrong. But these things aside it was still a good tour.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had a great time with Gabriel as our English guide. He was nervous at first but then by the end he was making all of us laugh! A must do for those who love history, and mixed cultures. Props Gabriel for conducting an awesome tour in your THIRD (Mayan, Spanish, English) language!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We did the tour in Spanish with Gabriel and if you speak Spanish I'd recommend you to do it. The groups are much smaller and he speaks very clear, easily understandable Spanish. Gabriel has a gift of storytelling - Merida history was fascinating in his words. He gave us a lot of tips about free good museums, sightseeing spots and the places in the city with the best coffee, cheap good street food or ice cream.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ No need to register beforehand, just show up in the park across from the church at 17h and look for the red umbrellas.
Maria was our guide and she was very knowledgeable and super friendly. This was a perfect introduction to the Yucatán and Valladolid.
