★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a truly wonderful and unique experience. You are taken back to the age of colonial times as well as pre-colonial times and the property is magnificent. I couldn't have had a better stay and strongly recommended to anyone whether it's grown-ups or kids so much to do

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hacienda has a beautiful territory, nice gardens, a lot of history and very friendly stuff. The waiter Eduardo can even tell you the story of the hacienda!
You can enjoy territory around, see the real peacock, swim in the clean swimming pool with a view on 1580 hacienda. The place has its own spirit! And location is very comfortable.
We took a villa, it was clean, stylish and large but not very functional for more than several days stay.
The villa has a kitchen but no cups, or even plates. The hacienda workers brought it to us very fast. Probably, this is more a place for one-two nights stay without cooking there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Terrible - the room looked great and the mini-museum took 3.142mins to walk around, however, you're miles from civilisation, the restaurant and bar was shut, the pool was minging and there was noisy building works going on. We asked for our money back and was in a cab back to town within 15mins. The photos show it as a magnificent place to stay - which it would've been, if the restaurant and bar had been open and swimming pool was safe to venture into. Maybe we decided to stay at a bad time for the hotel, so our experience wasn't indicative, but a one-off...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I loved every corner of this hotel. If you are coming to Valladalid it’s the best place to stay and feel the vibe.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visit the hacienda, but don't sleep there.
The 1 star rating goes for the hotel experience and the value for money.
I read the good and bad comments about this place, that has a low rating in hotels.com and booking.com, however, decided to spend one single night and take the risk.
So the hotel experience goes as follows:
- be conscious that this is not a 5 star hotel as promoted online. Actually it's funny they are allowed to do that.
- be aware that 1 night costed us 123EUR, and it is completely overpriced for what you get.
- arrival at the main gate, my last name wasn't registered properly, the guard looked confused, then let us in (btw, I'm a Spanish native speaker)
- reception, a bit confusing too, even speaking the same language, but so far acceptable.
- bedroom (a suite): terrible water pressure, hot water took forever to come out, cleanliness was ok, except for the fact that every piece of furniture was covered by "protective oil" that stained anything you would put on top of it... Even the floor was messy with the oil.
- WiFi: 5 Networks, none worked, besides seemed Telcel didn't have a good signal there, so we felt cut from the "world"
- Swimming pool was pretty dirty
- The "suite" was located next to either a generator or water pump, so there was noise at all times for periods of 5 seconds... This is amazing when you try to sleep.
- At the end I passed the complaints to the receptionist... But seems that "it is what it is", so I reported the issue to hotels.com
Additional notes: Google Maps sends you thru a close road to enter the hacienda, this way is wrong, you will have to do a U turn. There is no sign of it at the entrance, so you can avoid waisting time going thru a gravel path to end in a gate with a sign saying you had to go back, road closed.
the hacienda is nice to take some pictures around, you will be done with it in 30-40 min, but certainly don't spend your money staying there even for a single night

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm not sure where this place gets its 5* luxury hotel rating from; that's a real puzzle.
We arrived by taxi as we didn't have a car, only to find a desolate, very isolated run-down place, in a faded grandeur sort of way... but with nowhere to eat - the restaurant was closed and nowhere to drink - no bar or anywhere to get a drink, there's nothing even remotely near to walk to.
The receptionist cheerfully said we could get cabs in/out from town, at 130 pesos a pop each time we wanted to get drinks or food.
The room we were shown to in the castle looked straight out of a museum, in fact, randomly it was next to a museum. Looking like your grandma's bedroom, all dark furniture and chintz, there was no natural light other than under the 3" gap under the door to the room - perfect for creepy crawlies!
A fridge, circa 1985, in the corner of the room rattled like a diesel taxi waiting for a fare and an even older AC unit clung to the wall at great height.
After a quick look around the pool area with a couple of stained loungers and suspiciously murky water, we plucked up the courage to ask for our money back.
The receptionist thankfully agreed without a squeak, and we hustled pronto back into civilization and hotel at half the cost surrounded by restaurants and bars.
Maybe if you had your own transport it would be a quirky place to stay but we didn't fancy it one bit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed in one of the villas for three nights in February. It is absolutely worth one night's stay to experience the hacienda, which is beautiful and, for its age, is in good shape. Our beds were not particularly comfortable. There was no safe in our room (but if you ask at the reception they can provide one). There was a kitchenette, but no plates, utensils, etc. There was a refrigerator and microwave. When we arrived there were no towels in the bathroom and we had ask for them (they were quickly provided). Cleanliness in our villa could also have been better and the villas are in need of a decorative refresh. Access to a car is recommended because the Hacienda is outside of Valladolid. The wifi worked very well during our stay. The restaurant is basic and open for breakfast and lunch. I loved waking up to the sound of peacocks and other birds singing. Definitely worth a visit for a short stay in a relaxing environment.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was here for a wedding. Fantastic setting. Really memorable. Staff were also friendly and efficient throughout the night. If my friend didn’t already do it I’d consider this place for my own wedding!
