Scam artists. Said I needed to pay extra liability insurance, that is required in Mexico. My reservation through Expedia already included liability insurance and my credit card was covering collision. Stay away from these people.

The two people at the counter were responsive and professional. From the time I got to the counter to being on the road, including car inspection (for dents and the like) it tool all of 12 minutes. It is a small office but they moved the line along well. The car was great and in terrific shape. They offered extra insurance but were not pushy about it. Returning the car was equally easy. I was concerned given all the poor reviews here, but they exceeded my expectations. Nice work.

Please, never deal with that counter. Car were reserved with Expedia From November 10 till November 17. I know for the fact that they have cars available, because they asking me if I am willing to pay for extra insurance. After they figured out that I am not, they said they out of cars. I ask to help me to get another car with close by companies and they responded: Madam, this is not America. We end up to get a taxi for 40$ to Alegro. Taxi men offered to us rent car from his company. We did and very happy. I am done with Expedia. I am done FOREWER with HERTZ.

ABSOLUTE CHEATER!!! if I could then I would give zero star review for Hertz at Cozumel Airport. they are the most dishonest people I have ever met in car rental business. On 11/23/2021 about 3:30pm they told me they don't have car for me right after I landed ( what? Hertz are you going to ruin my Thanksgiving vacation like this in a different country? I already put my credit card down for car reservation via Expedia 10 days ago but Hertz woman told me she does see the reservation but she does not have the car ready for me) , then She told me she might have a more expensive car available but she told me I MUST buy insurance package from them in order to get that car! seriously? I have full insurance coverage plus my credit card coverage on car rental from USA, I never needed to buy any additional insurance package when I went to Cancun Mexico before. then Hertz woman said " if you don't buy additional insurance ( which is more than doubled up of total car cost) then you are not going to get the car from Hertz, and if you keep arguing then I am going to ask police to remove you out from airport lobby"... seriously!!!??? Hertz: is this the way you do business? I wish Hertz counter be fully removed out from Cozumel airport because CHEATER does not deserve to continue business. Also to EXPEDIA: Please penalize the vendor for cheating on customer and not able to fulfilling the reservation. This is the car rental for international travel so Expedia you must know how much pain this causes for customers . Expedia: I don't need you to just simply tell me that "oh, we can refund you this car rental and I suggest you to directly deal with Hertz to see what else they can do". seriously? Expedia this is all that you can tell customer? you should remove Hertz(at Cozumel airport) from your platform!

Unfortunately, staff were not present at the counter despite the posted scheduled opening time being 8:00AM just as in the rental confirmation email. So, no rental was possible. The staff from Avis, who was in the next counter offered to call the agent with no luck. I did receive a call 2 hours laters, with an agent accusing me of having left early but admitting that she was busy with other things. Definitely not your standard Hertz rental facility. I would not recommend it.

Here is the deal, people will complain about how bad Hertz is. Some of this is just bad luck. We went during the busy season of spring break, had no problems getting a full size Suburban and had zero problems turning it back in. You need to be a smart traveler and understand where you are. This is Mexico, land of $20 makes everything super easy. Yes, the first thing I did was tip the store attendant a twenty, he was super happy to help out. His store manager walked us out to our car and I gave her a $10. Two very pleasant Hertz employees packed our luggage and took photos of the car. No one was out to screw me over. I tipped those guys a $5. Upon returning the car, I tipped the same store attendant a $10 and he ran out and saw nothing was wrong with the car and processed my deposit refund of 10,000mxn. I also knew, coming down here, the amazing Expedia deal I got was too good. From all other rental companies I would have paid $1000 or more and that wouldn't have covered the required Mexican insurance. I paid $300 from Expedia and $360 in Mexican insurance. All together, less than $750 for an 8 person car, friendly service, and a car that fit my family. Everyone was happy. Just know where you are, this is not the Four Seasons in New York. This is Mexico. Act appropriately and set your expectations appropriately. Good luck. I recommend Hertz!

This place is a scam and Hertz corporate will not assist. Do not use! Reserved a car via Priceline in June 2021. Showed up on 12/25/21 in Cozumel, waited in line, only to be told that they had no cars left due to the United and Delta worldwide cancelations and people extending their trips. Odd, since the person in front of us and behind us seemed to get vehicles. Anyhow, stuff happens so I provided my phone # to call when they got a car. No one bothered to call, we got a junk car from a rental company downtown.

Avoid if you can. I made a reservation here through Amex Travel for a long weekend vacation. Upon arriving they said they had my reservation, but the person who had my reserved car prior, decided to extend their stay. Rather than make that person return their car, they let them extend, even though I had a reservation. I'm not making this up. The counter agent actually told me they did this. Hertz had no other cars and all the other car agencies were booked, so we just stayed at our hotel rather than drive around the island like we had planned. To make matters even worse, Hertz still charged me for the rental so now, after ruining my vacation, I get to spend hours on the phone with them and my credit card company getting the charge removed. This company sucks.
