Hospital Balboa Worldclass - 82110 Mazatlán

This hospital was very close to where we were staying in Mazatlan. That is the only good thing I can say about it. My one year old baby was sick in the middle of the night so we went there. After two days he was not any better so we took him to a very well-respected clinic on the other side of town. He started feeling better by the end of the day. The second clinic charged less than half what Balboa did and cured my baby.

THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!! Do NOT go here. I had a horrible experience taking my friend here when we were on vacation. The care was very unprofessional and the doctors did not seem like they knew what they were doing. They staff seemed confused on what treatment they needed to give and would disappear for long periods of time while my friend was in pain. Within 30 minutes of being here the price was over $450 dollars!! The “doctor” was very disrespectful and talked down to us if we asked any questions. I was extremely scarred and stressed because i knew we were in a bad health care situation in a foreign country. They touched her stomach and immediately gave us a diagnosis with no further investigation of her symptoms. I knew this wasn’t right so i had her discharged immediately so i could take her somewhere else. Our bill was almost $600 USD. This was such a bad experience!!! This is a TOURIST TRAP.

DO NOT GO HERE. Balboa clinic was a complete scam. We went in and a young girl said she was the doctor. Then another gentleman came into the room after and told us he was the doctor. The equipment was extremely outdated and the staff did not seam adequately trained. The doctor checked my pulse and looked into my mouth and claimed I had salmonella. They wanted to do an IV, antibiotic and multiple other medications without even knowing for sure my diagnosis. We over heard them in the back saying they didn’t have the right IV fluids so they gave me green liquids through my IV and wouldn’t tell us what it was. They charged us per hour for the IV. We knew immediately something was wrong with this clinic and asked them to remove the IV so we could go somewhere else. In under an hour we racked up a bill of over $500 USD. THIS PLACE IS A TOURIST TRAP. Do not go here. If you are in Mazatlán go to Sharps hospital!!

TERRIBLE MEDICAL CARE! I work as a medical assistant in the United States and I have never seen seen worse car given to a patient. This clinic has no supplies and make shift equipment. THIS IS A MONEY DRIVEN FACILITY. The doctor was extremely disrespectful to me when I would ask simple questions like what was being put into my sisters IV. They had no idea what the diagnosis was and wanted to treat with antibiotics without further investigation of the sickness. They charge per the hour and scam tourists. Both of the “doctors” checked the my sister with the same stethoscope through her clothes as if they could hear anything through the clothes. They poked her with needles continually as if they had never done an IV. My sister was in extreme pain and very uncomfortable at this facility. They had the IV dripping as slow as possible in order to take longer so we would pay more. We immediately had them remove everything off of her so we could seek treatment elsewhere. After being there for 30 min we racked up a $500 bill. After this we went to SHARPS hospital in Mazatlán. The treatment there was increíble there with great doctors. After being at SHARPS for almost a day we only had a bill of $145. BALBOA clinic has HORRIBLE care. DO NOT GO HERE. This was a very scary experience for us.

Terrible, deceptive people and prices. This place should be investigated for taking advantage of tourists with outrageous pricing, intimidation and overall unethical practices. They prey on tourists, especially the elderly with accidents / emergencies - a family member of mine was the victim of this. Avoid Balboa Hospital at all costs. They are the absolute worst... and they apparently pay commission to taxi drivers and hotels to send patients there.

WARNING: THIS PLACE IS A SCAM AND THEY CHARGE PER HOUR! Took my daughter in for dehydration and without even spending 5 minutes talking with us to find out all her symptoms they told us she had samonella or E. Coli. They just give you a fake diagnosis so they can start charging you by the hour!! I have never had so much anxiety in my life as I did at this place. My son was with us who speaks fluent Spanish and over heard everything they were saying such as they didn't even have the correct fluids to rehydrate her. We ended up getting out of there as fast as we could but were charged by the hour which was almost $500 USD. We ended up taking my daughter to SHARPS HOSPITAL was which is the BEST PLACE IN MAZATLAN FOR CARE. I was very impressed with their care, facilities, doctor etc. We were at Sharp's for about 6 hours getting fluids, bloodwork and a professional diagnosis and it only cost $175. THE BALBOA CLINIC aka NUEVO MAZATLAN MEDICAL CENTER NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN! IT'S GIVING MAZATLAN A BAD NAME! I have attached our bill for you to see what a rip off this place is.

If I could give zero stars I would. Do not go to this “hospital “. I was told I had a heart attack and put in ICU for 2days then a room for 2 more days. The nurses were basically useless. It’s too much to go into here. Just please, for your own well being. Do not go to this hospital. I was charged over $3000US for a lie.

This hoapital services tourists staying at Hotel RIU Emerald Bay where we were staying at the time and needed medical attention. The hospital staff are taking advantage of sick people and taking their money as they are desperate. This hospital is not trustworthy and neither is Hotel RIU for allowing them to continue taking advantage of tourists that fall ill.
