I went on vacation with my dad. About a half hour after I checked into the hotel I fell. Cracked my cheekbone in a few places. Spent six days at Costamed Hospital. The doctors, nurses and staff were absolutely AMAZING!!!!! They did charge me way more than my deductible which I honestly didn’t have the money for. My dad had to help and I’m now trying to pay him back. They did take really good care of me though.

My husband was transported here after a scuba accident. He received excellent care from the moment the ambulance arrived to the entrance into the ER. The doctors and nurses were knowledgeable and had a bedside manner. The evaluation was through and equipment was modern and up to date. He spent the night and the room was beautiful and spacious for me to spend the night. There was a built in bed a closet and spacious bathroom. The staff was professional and communicated with us to make sure we understood the procedure and discharge follow-up. We were on vacation and I’m very impressed. I’m glad you the DAN recommendation to be treated here.

An outrageous ripoff! We came here with my wife to make ultrasound test to confirm pregnancy. They said it costs 400 USD! So we just came to a public hospital and a man on reception gave us a number of local doctor who did the same thing just for 30 USD. Yes, 13 times cheaper! Stay away from Costamed at all costs - this is a VERY expensive tourist trap.

My husband was transported here after being taken off the cruise ship. We could not have gotten any better care than we did at this hospital. From the patient liaison to the nurses to the doctors, everyone was so helpful and took such good care of both of us. My husband had many procedures and everyone explained things so clearly (even if we had to use translator apps sometimes). I have never had a cardiologist visit as often as Dr. Moguel did and he stayed for a while every visit to make sure he answered any questions.

Your place to avoid if you are on a cruise or on vacation. Patient intake doesn't happen if they don't take your Amex or Visa, they have a Canadian nurse on staff who's supposed to coordinate with your travel insurance, but instead she would just complain how about they never get paid and how you need to pay upfront all procedures. every time we spoke they had local staffers joining her to make sure she conveys the message. Got admitted 2 hours for a knee fracture, they were supposed to check me up and send me for a Medevac, but instead ran x-rays, replaced my cast, charged me $8000 and wanted to send me to hotel before getting me into surgery in the following weeks. never took my vitals, never checked for blood clots using dopplers, didn't give me a single injection or whatsoever. Their medevac "specialist" came with his laptop, logged on Google flights and asked me how I wanted to be flown out on a commercial flight (suggesting 2 layovers in the US with a trip duration of 34h, knowing I came for an air ambulance to begin with). Asked them to evacuate me to Cancun to get to the international airport and they refused. I repeat, 8000 canadian dollars ! they charged me 1750 USD for one single trip on a ambulance back to my cruise ship, 5 km away. Their oncall surgeon misdiagnosed the fracture, using only xrays and not going for a standard CT Scan in my case. You go there, not only you die, but you die broke. stay off Costamed ! Stick to your cruise ship on board medical facilities, for comparison, I got charged only $500 for much more treatment including pain meds.

Great experience at this hospital! Had to fly down to Cozumel and help bring a family member back after a small stroke on a cruise ship. The entire staff was professional and courteous. I am an acute care NP and the tests Coatamed performed were appropriate and timely. Treatments for her stroke were perfectly in line with US guidelines. I was given a discharge summary and CD copies of all diagnostic studies. I did not speak to any of her doctors but I did not need to. They also performed Covid testing for our return to the US. Results were available in an hour. Giuliana Uguccioni was our Patient Services contact and she professional, courteous and replied to my questions and requests quickly. My sister's nurses were also great! I did speak with someone at Baldwin's Guest house and he comes here for stem cell therapy. He reports it's much cheaper and they infuse more cells than US hospitals therefore the outcomes are better. I believe this hospital is accredited by 3 countries- Mexico, US, and Canada. Hopefully you will never need to be here, but if something requires hospitalization, I highly recommend Coastamed and Baldwin's Guest House.
