To access one of the rooms, you have to go through a small garden, dodging the hammocks, and other nonsensical things that are lying everywhere. The hammock is in the middle, the garden itself could be very beautiful, however it is very abandoned and covered in dirty dust. Then, go up some unstable stairs, and fight with the "door" of the room to open it. The room is a cubicle with a bed in the middle, no side tables or anything. The door is a wooden frame that does not fit the door frame with a badly nailed screen, and quite broken. There is a little cabinet in the corner, which was dirty, had the remains of matches and so on. Under the bed it was full of dust. The ceiling is made of corrugated iron, and is detached from the walls. They put pieces of metal hairnet on it, which is useless, so I'll tell you about it next. All that being removed, the bed was, to my surprise, decent. The mattress springs were not noticeable, at least. So we decided to spend the night there. The place is quite loud. (Barking, machinery, music ...) The second night, giant cockroaches appeared, entering through the ceiling and running all over the room. Not just one, but several. It was really gross. That place (also called Hostal Caparazona) is a shame. The room, by the way, has no key, no knob, and no lockers. That was the private room. But the shared room is not really a room, they are beds all crammed together, with a mosquito net and that's it. It looks like a chicken coop. The shower is cold water. The service was just as bad as upon arrival we asked for tape to fix the "door" and they ignored us, and when we paid, we had to ask for our change several times. Very unprofessional, it is not worth any price nor is it worthy of being called a hostel. When we left (in the middle of the night), owner honestly returned our money and apologized.

A good price-performance ratio. Good position, just minutes from the beach. Nice place to meet people. However, it lacks a bit of finishing, which could make this hostel perfect for a stay in Puerto Escondido!

Stayed there in May and really enjoyed it. Alfredo and his family are really welcoming and friendly. It was a nice stay :) Thank you very much!

A Nice place to chill and to meet people. The area is very relax and remote from the city center of Puerto Escondido. If you are looking for a place to meet up, it's the place for you. If you are looking for a clean and cozy place, you're better look somewhere else.

Wonderful place to stay. Very good chill place. Alfredo and his family might even cook some wonderful food for you if your lucky. Lola and Chomsky the family dogs love to take walks with you on the beach if you like. Highly recommended.

Stay here only if you are desperate, rooms are not rooms at all private or common they don't even have 4 walls , most of them are made of hard paper and fabric with a lot of entrances for water, bugs and of course mosquitoes. No room has private bathroom, the shared bathroom has only one shower and two toilets. So most of the time you have to wait a long time but to get clean. Also "rooms" have no lock and bad internet connection. Garden is nice though and the owner is friendly .
