★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This hotelier, Kevin Wendle, does not miss a beat. If attention to detail is your thing, then he is your new hero. After an hour of becoming a guest on the property it became a wish of mine to meet the forces of beauty and refinement that created a hotel to the likes of my dreams. Lucky for me, he was in town from NYC that first evening of our week long stay. The word from the staff was that he was a joy to work for and took pleasure in walking around and meeting his guests after dinner - should they be lucky enough to be dining in one of his restaurants. I was. My husband and I enjoyed a very engaging, warm man. Clearly one with enough love, vision and may I say money to execute a feat that I could only dream of executing… a perfect hotel.
The staff. Oh the staff! Hand picked, clearly and each seemed devoted to the hotel and guests. The kind of people you want to take home. How all of this is accomplished bewilders me, in a good way. Enveloped in tasteful towels, endless touches of refinement and care. From nightly gifts on the bed, to afternoon tea in the Italian mansion, the list goes on. I can’t wait to come back and I don’t do that!
Bravo Kevin and team! I heard Hotel Esencia 2 is about to dawn in France. May I be your guest?
(Calling all foodies! Your name is all over this one!)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Delightful exclusive resort. One of the best dining experience at the main restaurant. The pool villas are superbly appointed, though we wished the rooms were more even, ie lesser primary suite, better guest room instead of just a small kid’s room. The common spaces in the pool villas and the pool itself are more than generous. Though remarkably and outlandishly expensive, the resort does try to distinguish itself through attentive service and many special touches. We however found the other guests were somewhat inconsiderate and behaved entitled (several just played their phone loud at the restaurants and bars as if they were alone). Not sure if if this is just due tot he fact that everyone there pays so much money for everything. The checkin/checkout were complicated and with too much attitude, and there were several unwarranted upcharges on the bill they had to remove. Overall, not my cup of tea. It’s a beautiful place with a lot of nice attentive people/staff, but they ought to come back down to earth. No one needs three coasters each at breakfast. It’s just wasteful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We just had our most wonderful stay at your beautiful hotel. It all began with the nice and warm welcoming of your staff. The best feature, that is actually so easy but unexplanable no other hotel ever does it- was the check in in our own hotel suite. No long wait at reception after a long travel. Bravo!
Then, all the nice and thoughtful gifts every evening on our pillows!
The very private suites- if someone doesnt want to see other guest, one doesnt have to. A very very private and quiet place. And for me as a design lover, i was very happy with the perfectly designed hotel suites and the style I very much liked. In every corner one can see the ‚red thread‘ of the same design language.
The staff at the pool is very attentive and not once we had to wait for the service. Many hotels could learn from that!!
The topping is of course the excursion to the hidden lagoon in the deserted hotel, where we saw Manatees! What a nice and wonderful experience!
Thank you Kevin for having created a small preview into paradise;-)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was very excited to stay at Hotel Esencia after reading all of the hotel's great press and reviews. I unfortunately left with a bad taste in my mouth - feeling like the hotel comes with 5+ star pricing but not 5+ star service. We have stayed at many 5 star hotels and I think Hotel Esencia has potential, but is not there yet.
The hotel itself is beautiful and private and the rooms are great. All staff was very kind and we never had a bad experience with anyone personally. But, the dinner service at Mistura and Taiyo was appallingly bad, our "concierge" phone number for texting we were given was rarely answered and beach service was no better. At checkin you are promised coffee/tea at the same time each morning, and it showed up for us only 1 morning of our 5 night stay.
Our incredibly overcharged bill at the end of our stay is what left me to submit this review and question some of the other reviews left for this hotel. If service was on par with what we were expecting, I wouldn't have a thing to say, but unfortunately I would not recommend Hotel Esencia until improvements are made

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a wonderful place to stay in Mexico! I went there with my husband and instantly fell in love with this place. The service is absolutely lovely, the location invites to relax and get comfortable. The food: WOW! No words it is delicious (said the scale, too ;-) ).
The one thing that was not great was the yoga class. As a yoga instructor myself it was shocking to see that the teacher did not create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, did not look at their students, did not give proper cues and simply came to perform their own yoga session.
People left class because they did not understand what needs to be done - a total no go.
I still give 5 stars because one does not come for the yoga, yet it is a cherry on the cake to enjoy that, too.
Food: 5/5
Service: 5/5
Cleanliness of the rooms: 5/5
Location: 5/5 - depending on what one is looking for. Everything is in short driving distance, the hotel itself is nice and private. So it was perfect for us

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What’s not to like! We spend 5 nights here to celebrate our honeymoon and we treated royally from start to finish, it’s has an excellent position and feels very private, you only see other guests but although everyone was friendly no one was on top of of us, the food was exceptional and there is good variety with the hotel featuring three different restaurants meaning we didn’t feel the need to venture out at night which was very relaxing. The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly and first class. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend anyone experiencing this magical hotel.
