We loved it. The rooms are very nice, new, a good size, with air conditioning and a balcony. They have cable TV and internet. There are rooms with Jacuzzi, ocean view and others with partial view. If you require internet for video calls, tell reception so they can assign you a room with the best signal. There are few rooms, in low season you usually have the hotel to yourself. It is very quiet and very familiar atmosphere.
You can book on airbnb but it is much cheaper by calling the hotel directly. You have to pay for one night to reserve and then settle upon arrival. They accept card payments.
The staff is very attentive and friendly, in the afternoons and evenings there is usually no hotel staff, only a security guard.
The restaurant closes at 8:00 p.m., it's delicious, but personally, we find other options around with larger portions and cheaper.
The beach is very wide, it is open sea and in the mornings and afternoons there are many mosquitoes so you have to put on a lot of repellent.
The best thing about the hotel is that they accept dogs, they are very friendly with pets, you only have to pay 350 when you arrive, it is a flat rate.
I would definitely return to the hotel.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have stayed at this lovely place three years in a row and love it! The owners go above and beyond to make you feel cared for, all the staff is very accommodating! Even with construction going on this year, it is a peaceful perfect getaway!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I made reservations at Hotel Portofino for dinner on a very quiet evening. When we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted rudely by the clerk at the front desk. He refused to speak English when I was trying to get my Spanish out as I have been studying Spanish. He took us to a table (the place was empty) and basically threw the bar code menu at us. It was such a windy spot that eating would have been difficult. We asked for a paper menu and he spoke in anger in Spanish. My husband jokingly said we were old and needed paper menus. When he heard me say we were leaving because of such a rude reception he spoke in English. The waiter Kevin apologized for his co-worker's behaviour and explained the menu to us. We ordered and the food was absolutely disgusting. Neither of us could eat it. One burnt bean, two carrots not washed or even cooked and a piece of dried up chicken. Worst meal ever! The only decent thing about this whole experience was Kevin the mesero. Do not eat at this restaurant unless you're stuck actually staying there. If the front desk was any indication of the way they treat their guests then you are in for a disappointing disaster.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a vacation at Hotel Portofino!
The location of the hotel is extraordinary, right at the 14 km long white sandy Playa Blanca beach.
The scenery from the infinity pool overlooking the ocean waves is just breathtaking. You could just hang out there with your Margarita and take in the view.
Two open eating areas right at the beach are inviting you to enjoy the delicious food of the menu expertly created by the chefs.
Our room was very clean being looked after every day by two maids.
We made the best experience with the friendly staff, from the manager Omar, the waiters, cooks and property staff, everyone was very attentive.
We were lucky to be there for Valentines Day and enjoyed a wine pairing dinner with live music by a local singer. The night ended with a bonfire at the beach. Everyone went above and beyond to make this a memorable evening.
If you want to go into Zihuatanejo, the taxi ride is around 15 minutes for 350 Pesos.
Are there more than 5 stars? We will be back!
